CCU Hospitality and Tourism Management Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 & Admission Requirements

CCU’s Hospitality and Tourism Management cut-off is JAMB’s 150, but the course is missing from CCU’s own programme list and NUC’s results. See the JAMB subjects, O’level rule, what to ask CCU and where else to study it.

The CCU Hospitality and Tourism Management cut-off mark is 150 in the UTME, JAMB’s minimum for all Nigerian universities in 2026/2027. Coal City University, Enugu has published no separate figure for the course. Hospitality and Tourism Management is on JAMB’s course list for CCU, but it is not on any programme list CCU publishes, and the NUC has no accreditation entry for it.

2027/2028 update: CCU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

So before you register it, you need CCU to confirm it is admitting. This page shows where the course appears and where it does not, the JAMB subject combination and O’level rule, the screening facts CCU has released, a worked example, and the places in and around Enugu where you can study hospitality or tourism if CCU says no.

AbsTechConnect (25 May 2026) lists a CCU cut-off of 150 with no CCU notice behind it, which is the national minimum.

Safe target score (my advice)

My judgement, not a CCU rule. Hospitality is not a crowded course at university level in the South East, so a modest score is usually enough wherever it runs.

Your UTME scoreMy read
Below 150Not eligible for any university; a polytechnic ND (minimum 100) is still open
150 to 164Meets CCU’s floor; fine if the course is confirmed and your O’level is complete
165 to 184Comfortable, and enough for UNN’s 160 floor for Archaeology and Tourism
185 and aboveStrong; most management courses at CCU are open to you

Aim for at least 165. That clears CCU and keeps UNN’s tourism option open if CCU is not admitting.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Hospitality and Tourism Management

JAMB’s brochure entry for Hospitality and Tourism Management (Myschool reprint, checked 30 October 2026) gives one institution remark, for the University of Port Harcourt. There is none for CCU, so the general rule applies.

RequirementHospitality and Tourism Management (JAMB general rule)
JAMB course name to registerHospitality And Tourism Management (Coal City University)
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, Economics and any other subject
O’levelFive credits including English Language, Mathematics and Economics
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (CCU has not published its own list)
SittingsNot stated by CCU; one sitting is safer
Direct EntryND or HND in a relevant programme; the brochure also lists degree or HND holders from other fields

Choosing the fourth subject

Any subject is allowed. Geography is a sensible pick because tourism draws on it, and it also fits Economics and Business Administration if you change course. Commerce or Government work just as well. If you also want to keep IMT’s hospitality ND as a backup, note that IMT’s own remark asks for sciences; check our IMT guide before you choose.

O’level notes

The brochure names only English, Mathematics and Economics, leaving two credits open. Food and Nutrition, Catering Craft or Home Management credits are useful if you have them, since they show interest in the field, but they are not required.

How CCU screening works

DetailWhat is known
Admission advertCCU invited applications into its undergraduate programmes for 2026/2027 (Myschool reprint, 18 May 2026). The faculty’s programme list is cut off in the reprint, so I could not see whether this course was advertised.
Application portalportal.ccu.edu.ng (the “Apply Now” link on ccu.edu.ng)
Form fee₦2,000 according to AbsTechConnect (25 May 2026); CCU has not confirmed it in any source I could open
Screening date and formatNot published
Aggregate formulaNot published
Other routesCCU also advertises JUPEB, IJMB and pre-degree forms for 2026/2027
2026/2027 deadline for private universities30 November 2026 (JAMB, reported by NAN on 11 May 2026)

Worked example

CCU has published no aggregate formula, so I only measure margins here.

Take Nneka, who scored 167 with C4 in English, C5 in Mathematics, B3 in Economics, B2 in Geography and B3 in Food and Nutrition in one NECO sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 167 minus 150 = 17 marks above the national minimum.
  2. Against my safe target: 167 minus 165 = 2 marks above it.
  3. O’level check: English, Mathematics and Economics are all credits; Geography and Food and Nutrition fill the other two. One sitting.
  4. Course status: she asks CCU first. If the course is not running, her 167 clears UNN’s 160 for Archaeology and Tourism, and her subjects fit Business Administration at CCU.

Admission odds and practical advice

  • The course status decides everything: registering a course CCU does not admit into means a JAMB change of course later.
  • Ask about facilities: if CCU confirms the course, ask where practical classes (kitchen, restaurant, front office) take place. A hospitality degree without them is weak preparation.
  • Put the right school first: once you know which school will admit you, make it your first choice and use a JAMB change of institution if needed.
  • Mind the deadline: JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for private universities.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Confirm the course first: ask CCU whether Hospitality and Tourism Management is admitting for 2027/2028. If not, register a course CCU does run, or another school’s tourism or hospitality course.
  3. Register the UTME correctly: choose Coal City University and the course “Hospitality And Tourism Management”, with Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and any other subject.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as your result is out. CCU cannot recommend you for admission without it.
  5. Apply on the CCU portal: open portal.ccu.edu.ng, fill the undergraduate form, pay the fee the portal shows and print your slip.
  6. Watch for screening: CCU has not published a screening date or format, so check the portal and ccu.edu.ng after you apply.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in to efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status and then Access my CAPS. JAMB gives four weeks to accept an offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay acceptance and clear: CCU has not published its acceptance or tuition fees in any source I could open, so pay only what your portal invoice shows, into the university’s account.

Warning

Forum and classified-site posts sell “CCU admission forms” and list private phone numbers. Apply only through portal.ccu.edu.ng, never pay an individual for a “slot”, and remember that every genuine offer must show on your JAMB CAPS page.

What the degree involves

Accreditation

The NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 has no hospitality or tourism entry under Coal City University, and I found no NUC report page for one. Status: not confirmed.

What you study

CCU has published no outline. A four-year B.Sc. Hospitality and Tourism Management in Nigeria typically covers:

  • 100 and 200 levels: introduction to hospitality and tourism, economics, accounting, business communication and food science basics.
  • 300 level: food and beverage management, front office and accommodation operations, travel and tour operations, event management and an industrial placement in a hotel or travel firm.
  • 400 level: tourism planning, hospitality marketing, hospitality law, facilities management and a research project.

Careers

Graduates work in hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, airlines, event companies, resorts and state tourism boards, or start their own catering and event businesses. In this field, hands-on experience counts for as much as the degree, so take every placement seriously.

Hospitality and tourism elsewhere

InstitutionCourseMinimum UTME score (2026/2027)

MOUAU, UmudikeHome Science, Hospitality Management and Tourism150, MOUAU first choice

Read our guides to the UNN Archaeology and Tourism cut-off mark, the MOUAU Hospitality Management and Tourism cut-off mark and the IMT Hospitality Management cut-off mark. Note that IMT’s remark asks for Biology or Agricultural Science, Physics and Chemistry in the UTME.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Registering before confirming: CCU’s own lists do not include this course.
  • No Economics or Mathematics in the UTME: both are fixed by the brochure.
  • Mixing up university and polytechnic rules: IMT’s ND has different UTME subjects from the university degree.
  • O’level not on CAPS: no school can recommend you without it.
  • Paying agents: apply only on CCU’s portal.
