AKSU Crop Science Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

AKSU’s cut-off mark for Crop Science is 150 (2026/2027 figure for 2027/2028 planning), with no departmental figure. Subjects, the Physics pass rule, screening, worked example and CAPS steps.

The AKSU cut off mark for Crop Science for 2026/2027 is 150 in the UTME. Akwa Ibom State University set 150 as the minimum for its 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening, for candidates who chose AKSU first, and it has not published a separate departmental figure for Crop Science. Crop Science is one of the Faculty of Agriculture courses AKSU reopened in its October 2026 supplementary round.

2027/2028 update: AKSU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Treat 150 as the score that lets you into screening. AKSU admits from the pool that clears it and does not publish the last score admitted into each course. Below are the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), the UTME and O’level subjects JAMB lists for Crop Science, how AKSU’s 2026/2027 screening ran, a worked example, the CAPS steps and what the NUC records show for the course.

The last two rows are there for contrast. AKSU does set higher course minimums when demand is heavy, as it did for Nursing, the other health courses and MBBS. It has not done that for Crop Science, so 150 is the figure that applies. If a blog prints a higher “AKSU Crop Science cut-off” without an AKSU notice behind it, do not treat it as official.

Safe target score for Crop Science at AKSU (my advice)

This is my judgement as an admissions adviser, not an AKSU rule. Agriculture courses at state universities rarely fill on high scores, and AKSU was still advertising Crop Science in its October 2026 supplementary round, which suggests places were left after the main screening.

Your UTME scoreMy read for AKSU Crop Science
Below 150Not eligible for AKSU screening
150 to 169Eligible; a place depends on how many others apply and on your O’level grades
170 to 189Reasonable chance with good O’level grades
190 and aboveStrong. This is the range I would aim for.

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 190, with credits (ideally B3 or better) in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology, plus a pass in Physics.

Catchment and state of origin

AKSU is owned by the Akwa Ibom State Government. It has not published a catchment list or a merit and catchment split, so I can’t tell you how much being from Akwa Ibom helps. Its January 2026 Health Sciences advert asked for a certificate of origin, so your state of origin is recorded at screening. Nothing in the notices I read limits admission to indigenes.

UTME subject combination and O’level for AKSU Crop Science

RequirementCrop Science at AKSU
UTME subjectsUse of English plus Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture, and Mathematics or Physics
O’levelFive credits including Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, Mathematics and one Science or Social Science subject, with at least a pass in Physics (English Language credit is expected for every degree)
Direct EntryTwo A-level passes: Chemistry and Biology, Agricultural Science, Botany or Zoology, or Physics, Mathematics or Economics
AKSU-specific remarkNone on the brochure page for this course
SittingsNot stated in the AKSU notices I read; one sitting is safest
Awaiting resultNot stated; your result must be on CAPS before AKSU can offer you admission

Crop Science has one unusual line in the JAMB brochure: it asks for at least an O’level pass in Physics, on top of the five credits. A pass is enough, so a D7 or E8 in Physics will do, but an F9 or no Physics at all could be a problem at clearance.

Crop Science is the study of plants as food and cash crops, so Biology matters more than Agricultural Science here. If you can, sit Biology in the UTME. Mathematics or Physics completes the line.

How AKSU screening works for Crop Science

AKSU’s 2026/2027 notice, as reprinted by Myschool, opened Post-UTME and Direct Entry registration to candidates who chose AKSU first and scored at least 150. No test format was published in any source I reached, so don’t assume a CBT until AKSU says so.

Worked example for Crop Science

AKSU has not published an aggregate formula. Many Nigerian universities turn the UTME score into a mark out of 50 (UTME divided by 8) and five O’level grades into another 50 (A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6, C6 = 5). I use that method below only to show how the pieces add up. It is an illustration, not AKSU’s formula.

Take Aniekan, who scored 178 and has B3, C4, C4, B3 and C5 in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Geography, with a D7 in Physics.

  1. Eligibility: 178 minus 150 = 28. Aniekan clears AKSU’s minimum by 28 marks.
  2. UTME part (illustrative): 178 divided by 8 = 22.25 out of 50.
  3. O’level part (illustrative): 8 + 7 + 7 + 8 + 6 = 36 out of 50.
  4. Illustrative total: 22.25 + 36 = 58.25 out of 100.
  5. What I would advise: he meets every line, including the Physics pass. I would keep Crop Science and have his result on CAPS early.

Uduakobong scored 155 with five low credits and an F9 in Physics. On the same illustration that is 19.38 + 27 = 46.38. Her UTME score qualifies her, but the failed Physics could trip her at clearance. I would advise her to resit Physics in the next WAEC or NECO series.

How to apply for Crop Science at AKSU, step by step

  1. Get your profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME: choose Crop Science with Use of English, Chemistry, Biology (or Agricultural Science) and Mathematics or Physics, and make AKSU your first choice. If you did not, do a JAMB change of institution before AKSU’s screening opens.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as your result is out. AKSU cannot offer admission to a candidate whose result is missing on CAPS.
  4. Watch for AKSU’s screening notice: in 2026 it opened on 19 August and closed on 22 September, and a supplementary round followed in October. Check aksu.edu.ng from July 2027.
  5. Register and pay: on www.aksu.edu.ng/app, follow START NOW, Enroll and PUTME, fill the form, pay the ₦2,000 fee (2026 figure) and upload your scans. Print the confirmation slip.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB allows four weeks to accept an offer.
  7. Pay acceptance and clear: AKSU has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Pay only against an invoice generated on the AKSU portal, then complete clearance with your original documents.

Warning

Every genuine AKSU offer shows on JAMB CAPS. Anyone selling “admission slots” or promising to “upgrade” a score for Crop Science is not acting for AKSU. Pay only through invoices generated on the AKSU portal.

JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities; that date has now passed. If you applied for Crop Science this session, check CAPS for an offer or a transfer to another course. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.

Studying Crop Science at AKSU

Crop Science is in AKSU’s Faculty of Agriculture. AKSU’s October 2026 supplementary notice placed the faculty’s courses at Ikot Akpaden, the main campus in Mkpat Enin LGA. The degree is a B.Agric., which normally takes five years in Nigeria, usually including a year of supervised farm practice.

NUC accreditation

The NUC accreditation results for 1990 to 2025 list AKSU’s agriculture programme under the single name “Agriculture”, with Full accreditation and a maturity date of 2026, which means it was due for its next NUC visit in 2026. Crop Science has no row of its own, so I can’t confirm its separate status. If this matters to you, ask the faculty which accreditation result covers the department.

What you study

  • Early years: botany, chemistry, introductory agriculture and statistics.
  • Plant production: field crops, tree crops such as oil palm and cocoa, vegetables and horticulture.
  • Plant protection: crop pests, plant diseases and weed science.
  • Improvement and storage: plant breeding, seed technology and post-harvest handling.
  • Practical year: field work on farms and research stations, then a final-year project.

Careers

Crop Science graduates manage plantations and vegetable farms, work for seed and agrochemical companies, and serve as crop or extension officers with state ministries and agricultural development programmes. Research institutes take graduates who go on to postgraduate study in plant breeding or crop protection.

For UTME revision, start with our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus.

Mistakes that cost Crop Science applicants an AKSU place

  • Treating 150 as an admission score: it gets you into screening, nothing more.
  • Ignoring the Physics pass: JAMB’s Crop Science line asks for at least an O’level pass in Physics.
  • AKSU not first choice: both the main and supplementary 2026/2027 notices asked for AKSU as first choice.
  • O’level not on CAPS: AKSU cannot admit you until it is there.
  • Missing the window: the 2026 main screening ran for about five weeks. Late candidates had to wait for the supplementary round.
  • Accepting on CAPS and doing nothing else: the acceptance fee and clearance at AKSU are separate steps.

If you are preparing for the 2027 UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts, and if your score is in, see what to do with your JAMB score.

AKSU cut off mark for Crop Science: frequently asked questions

Is 170 enough for Crop Science in AKSU? 170 clears AKSU’s 150 minimum, so you can apply. Whether it gets you in depends on the other applicants; my safe target for Crop Science is 190 to 200.

Do I need Physics for Crop Science in AKSU? Not in the UTME if you take Mathematics, but JAMB’s brochure asks for at least an O’level pass in Physics for Crop Science.

Is Crop Science at AKSU on the Ikot Akpaden campus? AKSU’s October 2026 supplementary notice listed the Faculty of Agriculture’s courses, including Crop Science, under the Ikot Akpaden campus.

Can I change from Crop Science to another AKSU course later? Inter-departmental transfers are decided by the university after your first year. AKSU has not published its rules, so ask the faculty officer before counting on one.
