Akwa Ibom Poly Hospitality Management Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028

The cut off mark for Hospitality Management at Akwa Ibom Poly is 100 in the UTME, the JAMB polytechnic minimum the school also used for 2026/2027; there is no separate departmental figure. Includes my safe target score, the subject combination, O’level rules, screening and CAPS steps.

The Akwa Ibom Poly Hospitality Management cut off mark is 100 in the UTME. Hospitality Management applicants fall under the general 2026/2027 ND cut-off that Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua set: “100 and above” in the 2026 UTME, in line with JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics. The school has not published a separate Hospitality Management figure.

2027/2028 update: Akwa Ibom Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Hospitality Management is on JAMB’s course list for Akwa Ibom Poly. The 2026/2027 notice reprint is cut off before it reaches this course, so JAMB’s list is the main confirmation that you can choose it. This page covers the Hospitality Management subject combination, O’level rules and screening, with my own safe target score and a worked example.

Blogs put the school figure at 120 for 2024/2025. By the 2026/2027 notice it was “100 and above”, the same as JAMB’s national minimum. Nobody has published a Hospitality Management figure, so anyone quoting one is guessing.

Safe target score for Hospitality Management at Akwa Ibom Poly (my advice)

I put this table together as someone who advises applicants. Akwa Ibom Poly has no such rule for Hospitality Management, and it does not publish merit lists with scores.

Your UTME scoreMy read for ND Hospitality Management at Akwa Ibom Poly
Below 100Not eligible for any ND course this session
100 to 119Eligible with a fair chance
120 to 139Good chance; 120 is the score I would aim for
140 and aboveStrong

My target for the 2027 UTME would be 120 or more, plus clean credits in English Language, Chemistry and Mathematics. Scoring 100 only gets you screened. The margin above it helps when the Hospitality Management department has more applicants than places.

Catchment and state of origin

State polytechnics often favour indigenes in some way, and Akwa Ibom Poly is owned by the Akwa Ibom State Government. Even so, it has not published any catchment list or quota for 2026/2027, and it admits candidates from other states. I would not count on any state-of-origin effect for Hospitality Management, or worry about one, unless the notice mentions it.

Akwa Ibom Poly Hospitality Management subject combination and O’level requirements

RequirementND Hospitality Management
UTME subjectsUse of English, Biology or Agricultural Science, and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics
O’levelFive credits in Biology/Agricultural Science and Mathematics, plus three from Geography, Food and Nutrition, Economics, Technical Drawing, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, a Nigerian language and Home Economics
English LanguageThe brochure makes credits in English Language and Chemistry compulsory
Brochure remark for Akwa Ibom PolyNone found
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (named in the school notice)
SittingsNot stated in the reprint; most polytechnics accept two sittings

What I would register for the UTME: English, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics (or Economics). Our JAMB Biology syllabus will help you plan your revision.

For Hospitality Management you need five O’level credits. Build them around English Language, Chemistry and Mathematics, and use any free slot for a subject that helps the course. The result you upload to JAMB CAPS should be the same one you present at screening, so the school and JAMB see the same grades.

Direct Entry and the HND route

ND Hospitality Management admission goes through the UTME and CAPS alone. There is no Direct Entry into the first year of an ND. After your ND and the one-year industrial attachment, the polytechnic takes HND applications directly, not through CAPS, and our guide to Akwa Ibom Poly HND admission requirements explains that route.

How Akwa Ibom Poly screening works

In June 2026 Akwa Ibom Poly published its 2026/2027 ND cut-off and screening fee. Screening for ND and HND applicants followed in September. I could not open the polytechnic’s own website, so I worked from Myschool’s reprints of the notices.

DetailWhat the 2026/2027 notices sayStatus
Who can applyCandidates who scored 100 and above in the 2026 UTMEOfficial
O’levelFive credits including English Language and Mathematics, from WAEC, NECO or NABTEBOfficial
Screening fee₦2,000Official
Screening datesWednesday 9 to Friday 11 September 2026, from 9:00 a.m. each dayOfficial; these dates have passed
FormatCandidates reported to their departments with their documents, including the WAEC or NECO statement of resultOfficial; no computer test was mentioned
Portal and closing dateNot shown in the reprintCheck the school website, akwaibompoly.edu.ng
2024/2025 (for comparison)A blog reported 120 and above, a ₦2,000 form and a 30 August 2024 closing dateUnofficial

A document check at department level is what the 2026 notice described. It said nothing about a written or computer test. In that kind of screening, two things usually separate candidates: the UTME score and the quality of the O’level result, which for Hospitality Management means English Language, Chemistry and Mathematics. That is my reading; the school has not published its ranking method.

Worked example for an ND Hospitality Management applicant

Take Ime, who scored 123 in English, Biology, Chemistry and Economics, with credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Food and Nutrition from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 123 minus 100 = 23. Ime is above the school minimum.
  2. Against my safe target: 123 minus 120 = 3. That is inside the range I would aim for.
  3. O’level check: all five credits come from one sitting and cover the core subjects for Hospitality Management, so nothing needs fixing there.
  4. CAPS check: the same O’level result must be uploaded to JAMB CAPS, or no offer can be approved.

Akwa Ibom Poly has not published how it ranks applicants after screening, so this is only an illustration. With equally good documents, the candidate with the higher UTME score is usually ahead: Ime on 123 would rank above a Hospitality Management applicant on 110 with the same O’level grades.

Your chances of getting Hospitality Management at Akwa Ibom Poly

  • Hospitality Management usually draws fewer applicants than the business courses.
  • Your O’level Chemistry and Biology credits are the filter many candidates miss.
  • If you want a business-style course with a practical side, this is a good fit.
  • According to blogs, Akwa Ibom Poly released its 2025/2026 ND lists in batches, so a name missing from the first list was not a rejection.
  • JAMB gave polytechnics until 31 December 2026 to finish 2026/2027 admissions, so a Hospitality Management offer can arrive late in the year.

How to apply for Hospitality Management at Akwa Ibom Poly, step by step

  1. Start with your profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register for the UTME: pick Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua and Hospitality Management exactly as JAMB names it, and sit the subject combination above.
  3. Correct your institution if needed: if Akwa Ibom Poly was not your choice, complete a JAMB change of institution before screening. Coming from another course? See JAMB change of course.
  4. O’level upload: go to an accredited JAMB centre and upload the result with your English Language, Chemistry and Mathematics credits. Until CAPS shows an O’level result, JAMB cannot approve an offer.
  5. Fill the screening form: check akwaibompoly.edu.ng until the notice appears. Follow the application link in it, pay the fee (₦2,000 in 2026), complete the form and print the slip.
  6. Go to departmental screening: candidates reported to their departments from 9:00 a.m. in 2026, documents in hand. Bring your UTME result slip, your screening slip and the WAEC or NECO statement of result, the one showing your English Language, Chemistry and Mathematics credits.
  7. Accept the offer on CAPS: sign in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. The JAMB CAPS guide covers what each status means.
  8. Pay acceptance and clear: the acceptance fee has not been published in any source I reached. Generate an invoice on the school portal and pay only through it, then complete clearance with your printed JAMB admission letter.

Warning

Nobody can sell you a “special list” slot or a paid change of course at Akwa Ibom Poly. Admission comes through JAMB CAPS: a genuine offer shows on your CAPS page, and genuine payments go through a portal invoice generated in your name.

Studying Hospitality Management at Akwa Ibom Poly

ND Hospitality Management sits in the School of Applied Sciences at Ikot Osurua, near Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom State, off the Aba road. It trains supervisors for hotels, restaurants, catering firms and event businesses.

What you study

These are the usual NBTE ND curriculum topics for Hospitality Management. The department has not published its own course list online.

  • Food and beverage production
  • Food and beverage service
  • Accommodation and front office operations
  • Nutrition, food science and hygiene
  • Tourism and hospitality marketing
  • Accounting basics, computing and general studies

Duration and accreditation

ND Hospitality Management follows the standard NBTE structure: two years full time, with a short SIWES placement inside it. For the HND you then need the one-year industrial attachment and usually an ND at Lower Credit or above. Akwa Ibom Poly has not published a course-specific timetable, so plan with the national pattern.

Established in 1991, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic is in the NBTE directory as a state polytechnic. ND Hospitality Management is a separate question: I could not confirm its NBTE status, so ask the department or check the NBTE’s list of approved programmes before you pay fees.

Careers after the ND

  • Front office, housekeeping or restaurant supervisor in hotels
  • Caterer or event planner
  • Kitchen supervisor in restaurants and institutions
  • Tourism and travel assistant
  • HND Hospitality Management, or your own catering business

Mistakes that cost Hospitality Management applicants

  • No Chemistry credit: the brochure makes it compulsory.
  • Registering only arts subjects in the UTME: Biology or Agricultural Science is required.
  • Thinking it is only cooking: it covers management, accounts and marketing too.
  • O’level missing on CAPS: JAMB cannot approve an offer without it.
  • Missing the departmental screening: in 2026 it ran for three days only, 9 to 11 September.

Akwa Ibom Poly Hospitality Management: frequently asked questions

What are the JAMB subjects for Hospitality Management at Akwa Ibom Poly? English, Biology or Agricultural Science, and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics.

Is Chemistry compulsory for Hospitality Management? At O’level, yes. The brochure makes credits in English Language and Chemistry compulsory.

When is Akwa Ibom Poly screening? It has passed for 2026/2027: ND and HND candidates were screened from 9 to 11 September 2026. The 2027/2028 dates are not out yet.

Is 105 enough for Hospitality Management at Akwa Ibom Poly? It is enough to apply, since the minimum is 100. To feel safe in Hospitality Management I would want 120 or more, so at 105 your O’level result needs to be strong.

Sources and updates

The 100 minimum for polytechnics and the 31 December 2026 deadline for admissions come from the News Agency of Nigeria report on JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting, dated 11 May 2026. The 2025 figure of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025), and Blueprint and AllAfrica reports match it. Location and founding date come from Wikipedia and the NBTE directory. The 120 reported for 2024/2025 is from an allschool blog post and is unofficial. The school’s cut-off of “100 and above” and the ₦2,000 screening fee are from the school’s 2026/2027 notice reprinted by Myschool on 27 June 2026. The screening dates, 9 to 11 September 2026, are from a Myschool report of 25 August 2026. Whether Hospitality Management is on JAMB’s list was checked against the Myschool list of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic courses. Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s polytechnic brochure (ND Hospitality Management brochure page) is the source for the UTME and O’level requirements. The worked example and the safe target scores are my own advice. Last checked 3 November 2026. When Akwa Ibom Poly publishes its 2027/2028 notice, this page will be updated.
