Akwa Ibom Poly Office Technology and Management Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028

The cut off mark for Office Technology and Management at Akwa Ibom Poly is 100 in the UTME, the JAMB polytechnic minimum the school also used for 2026/2027; there is no separate departmental figure. Covers my safe target score, the subject combination, O’level rules, screening and CAPS steps.

The Akwa Ibom Poly Office Technology and Management cut off mark is 100 in the UTME. Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua has no separate Office Technology and Management figure. Its 2026/2027 ND cut-off was “100 and above” in the 2026 UTME, which matches JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics.

2027/2028 update: Akwa Ibom Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

You can choose Office Technology and Management because JAMB lists it for Akwa Ibom Poly. The school’s 2024/2025 course list included it too; the 2026/2027 notice reprint stops before that part of the list. The verified figures come first, then the Office Technology and Management subjects, screening and the CAPS steps.

Compare the two school figures: 120 for 2024/2025 according to blogs, then “100 and above” in the 2026/2027 notice, matching JAMB’s national minimum. A separate Office Technology and Management cut-off has never been published, so a quoted one is a guess.

Safe target score for Office Technology and Management at Akwa Ibom Poly (my advice)

Akwa Ibom Poly does not publish merit lists with scores, so the bands below are my own reading for Office Technology and Management, not a school rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for ND Office Technology and Management at Akwa Ibom Poly
Below 100Not eligible for any ND course this session
100 to 119Eligible with a fair chance
120 to 139Good chance; 120 is the score I would aim for
140 and aboveStrong

120 or more in the 2027 UTME is my target here, with clean credits in the O’level subjects listed below. The minimum only gets you into screening for Office Technology and Management; a margin above it is your protection when the department has more applicants than places.

Catchment and state of origin

Candidates from outside Akwa Ibom are admitted at Akwa Ibom Poly, even though the Akwa Ibom State Government owns it. State polytechnics often favour indigenes somehow, but there is no published catchment list or quota for 2026/2027. I would not count on, or worry about, state of origin when applying for Office Technology and Management unless the notice mentions it.

Akwa Ibom Poly Office Technology and Management subject combination and O’level requirements

RequirementND Office Technology and Management
UTME subjectsUse of English and any three of Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, History/Government, Geography, CRS/IRS and Principles of Accounts
O’levelFive credits including English Language (not Literature in English) and Mathematics, plus three from Economics/Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Geography, Office Practice, a science subject, History/Government, Typewriting and Shorthand
English LanguageEnglish Language and Mathematics credits are in the base rule
Brochure remark for Akwa Ibom PolyThe brochure has an O’level remark naming AKPOLY, the short form it appears to use for Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic: it does not insist on a credit in Mathematics or a science subject. See below.
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (named in the school notice)
SittingsNot stated in the reprint; most polytechnics accept two sittings

What I would register for the UTME: English, Economics, Commerce and Government (or Mathematics). Our JAMB Economics syllabus will help you plan your revision.

The brochure has an O’level remark naming AKPOLY, the short form it appears to use for Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic: it does not insist on a credit in Mathematics or a science subject. Ask the admissions office to confirm before you rely on a Mathematics pass.

Of the five credits, English Language and Mathematics carry the Office Technology and Management requirement. Fill any free slot with a subject related to the course. The O’level you upload to JAMB CAPS and the one you present at screening should be the same result, so both see identical grades.

Direct Entry and the HND route

There is no Direct Entry into the first year of an ND, and ND Office Technology and Management admission runs through the UTME and JAMB CAPS only. Once you have the ND and the one-year industrial attachment, the HND application goes directly to the polytechnic, not through CAPS. Read our guide to Akwa Ibom Poly HND admission requirements for the details.

How Akwa Ibom Poly screening works

Myschool’s reprints are my source here, because I could not open the polytechnic’s own website. They show Akwa Ibom Poly publishing its 2026/2027 ND cut-off and screening fee in June 2026, then screening ND and HND applicants in September.

2024/2025 (for comparison)A blog reported 120 and above, a ₦2,000 form and a 30 August 2024 closing dateUnofficial

What the 2026 notice described was a document check at department level, without any mention of a written or computer test. My reading of how such screening usually works is that the UTME score and the quality of the O’level result separate candidates, and for Office Technology and Management I would make sure the English Language and Mathematics credits are clean. The school has not published its ranking method.

Worked example for an ND Office Technology and Management applicant

Take Iniobong, who scored 119 in English, Economics, Commerce and Government, with credits in English, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Government from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 119 minus 100 = 19. Iniobong is above the school minimum.
  2. Against my safe target: 119 minus 120 = -1. That is just under my target, so the O’level result has to be clean.
  3. O’level check: all five credits come from one sitting and cover the core subjects for Office Technology and Management, so nothing needs fixing there.
  4. CAPS check: no offer can be approved until that same O’level result is on JAMB CAPS.

Equal documents usually leave the higher UTME score ahead. So Iniobong, on 119, would sit above a 110 candidate with the same O’level grades. Treat this as illustrative, because Akwa Ibom Poly has not said how it ranks applicants after screening.

Your chances of getting Office Technology and Management at Akwa Ibom Poly

  • OTM usually admits more candidates in the 100 to 130 range than the other business courses.
  • Typing speed and good English will help you once you are in.
  • If you were aiming for Accountancy or Business Administration, an OTM offer on CAPS is still a solid route.
  • A name missing from the first Office Technology and Management list was not a rejection in 2025/2026; blogs reported Akwa Ibom Poly releasing ND lists in several batches.
  • JAMB gave polytechnics until 31 December 2026 to finish 2026/2027 admissions, so an Office Technology and Management offer can arrive late in the year.

How to apply for Office Technology and Management at Akwa Ibom Poly, step by step

  1. Get a profile code: send NIN, a space and the 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: choose Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua and Office Technology and Management as JAMB lists it, using the subjects shown above.
  3. Check your institution choice: if Akwa Ibom Poly was not your choice, you need a JAMB change of institution ahead of screening. To move into this course from another one, see JAMB change of course.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: visit a JAMB accredited centre to upload the result that carries your English Language and Mathematics credits. Until CAPS shows an O’level result, JAMB cannot approve an offer.
  5. Register for screening: check akwaibompoly.edu.ng until the notice appears. Follow the application link in it, pay the fee (₦2,000 in 2026), fill the form and print the slip.
  6. Report to the Office Technology and Management department: the 2026 exercise had candidates reporting to their departments from 9:00 a.m. with their documents. Take your UTME result slip, your screening slip and the WAEC or NECO statement of result, the one showing your English Language and Mathematics credits.
  7. Accept the offer on CAPS: go to efacility.jamb.gov.ng, click Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status you might see.
  8. Pay acceptance and clear: no source I reached gives the Akwa Ibom Poly acceptance fee. Use only an invoice generated on the school portal for payment, then clear using your printed JAMB admission letter.

Warning

A genuine Office Technology and Management offer from Akwa Ibom Poly shows up on your CAPS page, because admission comes through JAMB CAPS. Genuine school payments go through a portal invoice in your name. Walk away from anyone who offers a “special list” slot or a change of course for money.

Studying Office Technology and Management at Akwa Ibom Poly

ND Office Technology and Management is taught in the School of Business and Management Studies on the Ikot Osurua campus, near Ikot Ekpene, off the Aba road, Akwa Ibom State. The ND trains office managers and executive assistants who run records, correspondence and office systems.

What you study

The Office Technology and Management department has not put its own course list online, so these are the topics the NBTE ND curriculum usually covers.

  • Keyboarding and word processing
  • Shorthand and transcription
  • Office practice and records management
  • Business communication and English
  • Office application packages and computing
  • Principles of management and general studies

Duration and accreditation

Under the usual NBTE structure, ND Office Technology and Management takes two years full time, with a short SIWES attachment inside those two years. Students heading for the HND then do the one-year industrial attachment and usually need an ND at Lower Credit or above. Akwa Ibom Poly has not published its own timetable for the course, so treat this as the national pattern.

I could not confirm the NBTE status of ND Office Technology and Management. What I could confirm is that Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic is in the NBTE directory as a state polytechnic established in 1991. Before you pay fees, ask the department, or check the NBTE’s list of approved programmes.

Careers after the ND

  • Secretary or executive assistant
  • Administrative and records officer
  • Front desk and customer service officer
  • Confidential secretary in government service
  • HND Office Technology and Management

Mistakes that cost Office Technology and Management applicants

  • Using Literature for the English credit: you need English Language.
  • Thinking it is just typing: the course covers management and office systems too.
  • Ignoring the computing side: most offices now run on software.
  • O’level missing on CAPS: JAMB cannot approve an offer without it.
  • Missing the departmental screening: in 2026 it ran for three days only, 9 to 11 September.

Akwa Ibom Poly Office Technology and Management: frequently asked questions

What are the JAMB subjects for OTM at Akwa Ibom Poly? English plus any three of Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, History/Government, Geography, CRS/IRS and Principles of Accounts.

Is OTM a good course in polytechnic? Yes if you want office and administrative work. Every organisation needs people who can run records, correspondence and office software.

When is Akwa Ibom Poly screening? The 2026/2027 screening for ND and HND candidates ran from 9 to 11 September 2026, so it has passed. No 2027/2028 dates have been announced.

Is 105 enough for Office Technology and Management at Akwa Ibom Poly? 105 is above 100, which makes you eligible. I would want 120 or more for Office Technology and Management to feel safe, so make sure the O’level result is strong.

Sources and updates

The 100 minimum for polytechnics and the 31 December 2026 deadline for admissions are from the News Agency of Nigeria report of JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026). The 2025 minimum of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025), and Blueprint and AllAfrica reports match it. The location and founding date come from Wikipedia and the NBTE directory. The older figure of 120 (2024/2025) is from an allschool blog post and is unofficial. Akwa Ibom Poly’s “100 and above” cut-off and the ₦2,000 screening fee are from the school’s 2026/2027 notice reprinted by Myschool on 27 June 2026. The 9 to 11 September 2026 screening details are from Myschool (25 August 2026). Whether Office Technology and Management is on JAMB’s list was checked against the Myschool list of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic courses. Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s polytechnic brochure (ND Office Technology and Management brochure page) is the source for the UTME and O’level requirements. The safe target scores and the worked example are my advice, not figures from the school. Checked on 3 November 2026; this page will be updated when Akwa Ibom Poly publishes its 2027/2028 notice.
