The Adamawa Poly cut off mark for Accountancy is 100 in the UTME, which is JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics in both 2025/2026 and 2026/2027. Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola has not published a separate cut-off for ND Accountancy, and I found no school notice that sets one. Accountancy is one of the busier business courses, so the score that wins a place is usually well above that floor.
2027/2028 update: Adamawa Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They are based on JAMB’s 2026 national minimum for polytechnics, because Adamawa Poly has not published its own course cut-offs. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
A score of 100 makes you eligible to be considered. It does not guarantee a place. Below you will find the verified figures, the last cut-off the polytechnic itself announced, a safe target score (my advice), the JAMB subject combination and O’level rules for Accountancy, what is known about screening, a worked example and the CAPS steps.
Adamawa Poly cut off mark for Accountancy at a glance

| Last figure the polytechnic announced | 120 for all ND courses | 2019/2020 session (Myschool reprint, 15 July 2019) |
| Programme level | National Diploma (ND), full time | ND entry is through the UTME and JAMB CAPS |
| UTME subjects | English, Mathematics and two of Geography, Commerce, Government, Principles of Accounts, Economics | JAMB brochure (polytechnic) as reprinted by Myschool; no Adamawa Poly remark |

Is Accountancy on Adamawa Poly’s course list?
Adamawa Poly has no official ND course list online that I could reach; its website, adamawapoly.edu.ng, did not load during my checks. Accountancy appears on Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s course list for the polytechnic (18 courses, checked 3 November 2026); the naija-find-uni course directory (16 courses, undated); an o3schools course list (25 November 2025); and Wikipedia’s list of the polytechnic’s courses. All of these are unofficial copies, so before you register, confirm on the JAMB e-brochure or on your CAPS page that Accountancy is listed under Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola.
Adamawa Poly Accountancy cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | Official (reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |
| 2022/2023 | No figure | ND advert asked only for a “satisfactory score” in the UTME | Myschool reprint, 8 September 2022 (text cut off) |
| 2019/2020 | 120 | “Candidates who scored 120 and above in UTME for all courses” | Myschool reprint of the polytechnic’s notice, 15 July 2019 |
The 2019/2020 figure of 120 applied to every ND course, Accountancy included. It is the only cut-off I could trace to the polytechnic itself, and it is now seven sessions old. JAMB has kept the national polytechnic floor at 100 since then, and Adamawa Poly’s later notices do not repeat a figure. Some blogs quote a higher “Adamawa Poly cut-off” without citing any notice; I would not plan around a number nobody can source.
Safe target score for Accountancy at Adamawa Poly (my advice)
This is my judgement as an admissions adviser. It is not an Adamawa Poly rule, and I found no published Adamawa Poly merit list with scores.
| Your UTME score | My read for ND Accountancy at Adamawa Poly |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for any ND course in 2026/2027 |
| 100 to 119 | Eligible, but weak for a busy course like Accountancy |
| 120 to 139 | Possible, and above the old 120 figure |
| 140 to 159 | Competitive |
| 160 and above | Strong. This is the range I would aim for. |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 160, with credits in English, Mathematics and Economics, and ideally Principles of Accounts as well. Accountancy at most polytechnics fills faster than courses such as Office Technology and Management or Social Development, so a score close to 100 is a risk here.
Does state of origin matter?
Adamawa Poly is owned by the Adamawa State Government, but it has not published a catchment list or a quota split between indigenes and other candidates. I found no rule limiting ND admission to Adamawa indigenes. I would not count on any indigene advantage, or worry about lacking one, unless the polytechnic’s own notice mentions it.
Adamawa Poly Accountancy subject combination and O’level requirements
| Requirement | ND Accountancy |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics and any two of Geography, Commerce, Government, Principles of Accounts and Economics |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language (not Literature) and Mathematics, plus three from Economics/Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Geography, Office Practice, Government, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History/Government, Typewriting and Shorthand |
| Adamawa Poly remark in the JAMB brochure | None |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO and NABTEB, or GCE; the polytechnic’s advert also accepts NBTE pre-ND results and NTC, NBC or NVC certificates with five relevant credits |
| Sittings | Not more than two sittings (polytechnic advert, as reprinted) |
| Interview or practical | None published |
Mathematics is compulsory in the UTME for Accountancy. For the other two I would pick Economics and Principles of Accounts, because they match your first-year courses. Commerce or Government also satisfy the brochure if those are your stronger subjects.
The polytechnic’s own O’level rule
For Business Studies programmes, the polytechnic’s admission advert (as reprinted by blogs) asks for credits in both English Language and Mathematics. So for ND Accountancy you need a credit in Mathematics and a credit in English at O’level. A pass in either one rules you out, however high your UTME score.
Direct Entry and the HND route
There is no Direct Entry into the first year of an ND. ND Accountancy admission goes through the UTME and CAPS. After the ND and a year of industrial attachment, you would apply for the HND directly to the polytechnic. A blog reprint of an Adamawa Poly HND advert lists Accountancy (full time and part time) among the HND courses, but that list has not been confirmed. See our Adamawa Poly HND admission guide for what is known about HND entry.
How Adamawa Poly screening works
I could not find an official 2026/2027 screening notice from Adamawa Poly. What follows comes from blog reprints of the polytechnic’s admission advert, so treat every line as something to confirm on the portal.
| Detail | What is known | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Who can apply | Candidates who chose Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola as first choice in the UTME | Polytechnic adverts (2019/2020 and 2022/2023 reprints) |
| Minimum UTME score | 100 (JAMB) | Official |
| Screening form fee | ₦2,000 | Unverified blog claim (schoolings.org, page modified 12 March 2026) |
| Portal | spy.admissions.cloud | Unverified blog claim; I could not confirm it belongs to the polytechnic |
| Test | Written at designated centres on campus, on the date printed on your screening slip | Blog reprint |
| What to bring | Acknowledgement slip and invitation (screening) slip | Blog reprint |
| Make-up test | None | Blog reprint |
| 2026/2027 dates | Not published | Unknown |
| Aggregate formula | Not published | Unknown |
If the screening test happens as described, missing it ends your chance for the session, because the reprint says there is no make-up date. Keep your phone line active and check the portal often once forms open.
Worked example for an ND Accountancy applicant
Adamawa Poly has not published an aggregate formula, so start by measuring how far your UTME score sits from the 100 minimum, from the old 120 figure and from a safe target. Take Aisha, who scored 171 with credits in English, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Principles of Accounts from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 171 minus 100 = 71. Aisha clears JAMB’s minimum.
- Against the 2019/2020 figure: 171 minus 120 = 51. Even if the polytechnic went back to 120, this score passes.
- Against my safe target: 171 minus 160 = 11. She is above my safe target.
- O’level check: five relevant credits, including English and Mathematics, from one sitting and uploaded to CAPS. Nothing rules her out.
Many Nigerian polytechnics rank candidates by a mix of UTME score and screening score. Purely to show how such a mix works, take the UTME score divided by 8 (out of 50) plus a screening score out of 50. A score of 171 gives 21.38, and 30 out of 50 in screening would bring the total to 51.38 out of 100. A candidate with 110 and the same screening score would have 43.75. This formula is an illustration only. Adamawa Poly has not published one.
Your chances of getting Accountancy at Adamawa Poly
- Accountancy usually draws more applicants than most ND business courses, so expect more competition than for Office Technology and Management or Social Development.
- A UTME score in the 160s or higher, with clean O’level results on CAPS, puts you in a good position.
- If your score is close to 100, a place in Accountancy is less likely; be ready to accept a related course if the polytechnic offers one on CAPS.
- JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for polytechnics, so admissions for that session run until then. Keep checking CAPS.
If the polytechnic offers you Banking and Finance or Business Administration and Management instead, take the offer seriously. They share several first-year courses with Accountancy, and the ND still leads to an HND and to professional accounting exams later.
How to apply for Accountancy at Adamawa Poly, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME with the right subjects: choose Accountancy with English, Mathematics and two of Economics, Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Government and Geography.
- Pick the right institution: choose Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola as first choice. Do not pick the separate listing that ends in “affiliated to University of Maiduguri”; that one is for degree courses.
- Fix your choice if needed: if Adamawa Poly was not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before screening. To move into Accountancy from another course, see JAMB change of course.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB accredited centre. JAMB cannot process an admission while CAPS shows no O’level result.
- Fill the screening form: when the polytechnic opens its form, pay the fee shown on the official portal, fill the form and print the acknowledgement and screening slips. Blogs give the fee as ₦2,000 and the portal as spy.admissions.cloud; both are unverified, so check the address against an official Adamawa Poly notice first.
- Sit the screening: go on the date on your slip, with both slips, your UTME result slip and your O’level results.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and clear: Adamawa Poly has not published its acceptance fee in any official source I reached. Pay only through an invoice from the polytechnic’s portal, then complete clearance.
Warning
JAMB lists two Adamawa State Polytechnic entries. “Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola” is the one for ND courses. “Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola (affiliated to University of Maiduguri)” is for degree courses and follows university rules. Choosing the wrong entry can leave you outside the ND admission list, so check your choice on your JAMB profile before screening.
If you still need to sit the UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts, and when results come out, see how to check your JAMB result.
Studying Accountancy at Adamawa Poly
ND Accountancy trains you to keep books, prepare financial statements and handle basic costing, tax and audit work. The polytechnic was formed in 1991 from the College of Preliminary Studies, Yola and the Staff Development Institute, Numan. Its main campus is in Jimeta-Yola, with further campuses at Jambutu and Numan, and it has not published which campus runs Accountancy.
What you study
- Financial accounting, from double entry to final accounts
- Cost accounting and introductory management accounting
- Business law, economics and business mathematics
- Introductory taxation, auditing and public sector accounting
- Computer applications, including spreadsheets and accounting software
- Communication in English and the general studies courses every ND student takes
Duration and accreditation
Under the standard NBTE structure, the ND runs for two years full time. Students who want the HND then do a one-year industrial attachment before applying, and the HND usually asks for an ND at Lower Credit or above. Adamawa Poly has not published a course timetable for Accountancy, so treat this as the national pattern.
Adamawa Poly is a state polytechnic under the NBTE. I could not confirm the current NBTE accreditation status of ND Accountancy itself. Ask the department, or check the NBTE’s list of accredited programmes, before you pay school fees.
Careers after the ND
- Accounts clerk, bookkeeper or audit assistant in businesses, schools and NGOs
- Revenue and finance offices in local and state government
- Microfinance banks and cooperatives
- HND Accountancy, and later professional exams with bodies such as ICAN or ANAN

Mistakes that cost Accountancy applicants a place at Adamawa Poly
- Treating 100 as a safe score: it is the minimum to be considered, and Accountancy fills with higher scores.
- Leaving out Mathematics in the UTME: the brochure makes it compulsory.
- No credit in Mathematics or English at O’level: the polytechnic asks for credits in both for business courses.
- O’level missing on CAPS: JAMB cannot process your admission without it.
- Choosing the UNIMAID-affiliated listing: that entry is for degrees, not the ND.
- Paying on an unconfirmed website: check the portal address against an official notice before you pay.
Adamawa Poly Accountancy cut-off: frequently asked questions
Is 120 enough for Accountancy in Adamawa Poly? Yes for eligibility, since JAMB’s minimum for polytechnics is 100 and 120 also matches the last figure the polytechnic published. For a comfortable chance in Accountancy, I would aim for 160 or more.
Can I study Accountancy at Adamawa Poly without Principles of Accounts? Yes. In the JAMB brochure, Principles of Accounts is one of five options next to Economics, Commerce, Government and Geography. Mathematics and English are the subjects you cannot leave out.
Does Adamawa Poly accept two sittings for Accountancy? Yes. The polytechnic’s ND advert, as reprinted, accepts five relevant credits in not more than two sittings. One sitting still looks better if the course is oversubscribed.
What is the Adamawa Poly screening form fee for 2027? Blogs give ₦2,000 for the recent form, but I could not confirm it from an official notice. Check the fee on the polytechnic’s official portal when forms open.
Sources and updates
The 100 minimum for polytechnics and the 31 December 2026 admission deadline come from the News Agency of Nigeria report of JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026). The 2025 figure of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025) and matching Blueprint and AllAfrica reports. The UTME and O’level requirements are from JAMB’s polytechnic brochure as reprinted by Myschool (ND Accountancy brochure page), checked on 3 November 2026. That page carries no remark for Adamawa Poly, so the general rule applies. The course listing is from the Myschool list of Adamawa State Polytechnic courses, cross-checked against the naija-find-uni directory, o3schools (25 November 2025) and Wikipedia. The 120 cut-off for 2019/2020 is from Myschool’s reprint of the polytechnic’s notice (15 July 2019), and the 2022/2023 entry rules are from Myschool’s reprint of the ND advert (8 September 2022). The screening fee, portal and test rules are from schoolings.org (page modified 12 March 2026) and remain unverified. The safe target scores and the worked example are my own advice. Checked on 3 November 2026; this page will be updated when Adamawa Poly publishes its 2027/2028 notice.
