The Fed Poly Mubi cut off mark for Horticultural Technology is 100 in the UTME, which is JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics for 2026/2027. The Federal Polytechnic, Mubi has not published a separate cut-off for ND Horticultural Technology, and I found no departmental figure for earlier years either.
2027/2028 update: Fed Poly Mubi cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They are based on JAMB’s 2026 national minimum for polytechnics, because Fed Poly Mubi has not published its own course cut-offs. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
JAMB lists this course twice for Fed Poly Mubi, as “Horticultural Technology” and as “Horticulture”. Both entries carry the same UTME line, and the 2026/2027 notice calls it ND Horticultural Technology. Clearing 100 only makes you eligible. This page covers the figures, a safe target score, the subjects, screening and the CAPS steps.
Fed Poly Mubi cut off mark for Horticultural Technology at a glance
| Item | 2026/2027 position | Status |

| Programme level | National Diploma (ND), full time | Entry through the UTME and JAMB CAPS |
| School | School of Agricultural Technology | 2026/2027 notice (Myschool reprint) |
| UTME subjects | Mathematics and two of Chemistry, Physics, Technical Drawing | JAMB polytechnic brochure as reprinted by Myschool |
| On the 2026/2027 advert? | Yes | Listed under its school in the 2026/2027 ND/HND notice (Myschool reprint, 8 August 2026) |
| Screening fee and dates | Not published officially | Check the polytechnic portal |
| Admission deadline set by JAMB | 31 December 2026 for polytechnics (2026/2027) | Official (NAN, 11 May 2026) |
Do not mix this school up with the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi (FUAM). They are two separate federal institutions in the same town. The polytechnic awards the ND and HND and uses the 100 polytechnic minimum; the university awards degrees and follows the 150 university minimum. On your JAMB profile, Fed Poly Mubi is listed as Federal Polytechnic, Mubi (MUBIPOLY on the Myschool reprint of JAMB’s course list).
Fed Poly Mubi Horticultural Technology cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official (NAN, 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | Official (reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |
| Any year | None | Fed Poly Mubi cut-off for Horticultural Technology specifically | Never published in any source I found |
JAMB kept the polytechnic minimum at 100 in both 2025 and 2026. Fed Poly Mubi may admit above that line for some courses, but it has not announced a figure for Horticultural Technology. If a website quotes an exact “Fed Poly Mubi Horticultural Technology cut-off” such as 140 or 160, ask where it came from.
Safe target score for Horticultural Technology at Fed Poly Mubi (my advice)
This table is my judgement as an admissions adviser. It is not a Fed Poly Mubi rule, and the polytechnic has not published merit lists with scores.
| Your UTME score | My read for ND Horticultural Technology at Fed Poly Mubi |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for any ND course this session |
| 100 to 119 | Eligible. For a smaller course this may be enough, but no admission data has been published to prove it |
| 120 to 139 | Reasonable |
| 140 and above | Strong for this course, in my view |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 140, and make sure your subjects match the brochure line exactly.
Catchment and state of origin
Fed Poly Mubi is a federal polytechnic in Adamawa State, but it has not published a catchment list or a quota split for 2026/2027. It admits candidates from across Nigeria. I would not count on a state-of-origin advantage unless the polytechnic’s own notice mentions one.
Fed Poly Mubi Horticultural Technology subject combination and O’level requirements
| Requirement | ND Horticultural Technology |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics and any two of Chemistry, Physics or Technical Drawing |
| O’level | Five credits in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and any two from a list that includes Biology/Agricultural Science. The “Horticulture” page adds that a credit in English Language is required. |
| Fed Poly Mubi remark in the brochure | None on either brochure page (Horticultural Technology or Horticulture). |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO, NABTEB and GCE are the usual ones; Fed Poly Mubi has not published its own list for this course |
| Sittings | Not stated by Fed Poly Mubi; two sittings is the common polytechnic limit |
| Interview or practical | None published |
Like Forestry Technology, horticulture carries an engineering-style UTME line on the Myschool reprint: Mathematics plus two of Chemistry, Physics or Technical Drawing. Other colleges have remarks that allow Biology or Agricultural Science, but Fed Poly Mubi does not, so register the subjects as printed. I would choose Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.
At O’level, get credits in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English, and add Biology or Agricultural Science as one of the extra two. That keeps you inside both the Horticultural Technology and the Horticulture versions of the rule. Check JAMB’s e-brochure before registering in case the general line has been corrected.
Direct Entry and the HND route
There is no Direct Entry into the first year of an ND. ND Horticultural Technology admission goes through the UTME and CAPS. After the ND and industrial attachment, you can apply for an HND. The blog list of Fed Poly Mubi HND programmes has Crop Production but no separate horticulture HND, so ask the department which HND it feeds into.
For details of the HND form, see our Fed Poly Mubi HND admission requirements guide. The HND course list there comes from a blog, so check it on the portal.
How Fed Poly Mubi screening works
Fed Poly Mubi has not put its 2026/2027 screening details in any source I could reach. Its website at fpmubieportal.edu.ng has an Admission Portal link, and two reprints of the session’s notices exist, but neither gives a fee, a date or a test format. Here is what is known.
| Detail | What is known | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 ND/HND admission notice | Announced; reprint lists programmes by school but is cut off in the engineering list | Myschool reprint, 8 August 2026 |
| Post-UTME form for ND full time | Released for 2026/2027 | AbsTechConnect, 12 August 2026 (blog) |
| Who can apply | The blog says candidates who did not choose the polytechnic can still apply | Unofficial; you would still need a change of institution before CAPS can admit you |
| Minimum UTME score | 100 | JAMB rule |
| Screening fee | Not published | Unknown |
| Screening date and format | Not published | Unknown |
| Aggregate formula | Not published | Unknown |
Because the polytechnic has not said how it ranks applicants, the safest plan is a UTME score well above 100 and a clean O’level record on CAPS.
Worked example for an ND Horticultural Technology applicant
Fed Poly Mubi has not published an aggregate formula, so start by measuring the gap between your score, the 100 minimum and a safe target. Take Grace, who scored 131.
- Eligibility: 131 minus 100 = 31. Grace is above JAMB’s minimum for polytechnics.
- Against my safe target: Grace is 9 points below my 140 target, so a strong screening performance and clean O’level results matter more.
- Subject check: she wrote Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics with English, which matches the brochure line.
- O’level check: credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Agricultural Science, uploaded to CAPS.
Many Nigerian polytechnics rank candidates by a mix of UTME score and screening score. To show how such a mix works, take the UTME score divided by 8 (out of 50) plus a screening score out of 50. Grace’s 131 gives 16.38, and a screening score of 30 out of 50 would give 46.38 out of 100. A candidate with 110 and the same screening score would have 43.75. This formula is an illustration only. Fed Poly Mubi has not published one.
Your chances of getting Horticultural Technology at Fed Poly Mubi
- Horticulture is a small course, so a score in the 120s or 130s can be competitive in my view, if the subjects and O’level are right.
- The candidates who lose out usually registered Biology and Agricultural Science in the UTME, which the general line does not list.
- The course was on the 2026/2027 notice, so it was admitting in the latest session with a published advert.
- Polytechnics usually keep admitting until JAMB’s deadline. For the 2026/2027 session JAMB set 31 December 2026 for polytechnics, so keep checking CAPS until then.
If you are offered Agricultural Technology instead, it covers crop production more broadly and is in the same school.
How to apply for Horticultural Technology at Fed Poly Mubi, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose Horticultural Technology and register Use of English, Mathematics and any two of Chemistry, Physics or Technical Drawing. Pick Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, not the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi.
- Fix your choice if needed: if Fed Poly Mubi was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before screening. To move into this course from another one, see JAMB change of course.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB accredited centre. JAMB cannot offer you admission while CAPS shows no O’level result.
- Fill the screening form: open the Admission Portal link on fpmubieportal.edu.ng, pay only through the invoice the portal generates, complete the form and print every slip it gives you.
- Attend screening if called: take your UTME result slip, O’level results and the portal printouts.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and clear: Fed Poly Mubi has not published its acceptance fee in any official source I reached. Pay only through a portal invoice in your name, then complete clearance.
Warning
Admission into Fed Poly Mubi comes through JAMB CAPS. If anyone offers you a “special list” slot or a “direct admission” for money, walk away. A genuine offer appears on your CAPS page, and genuine school payments go through a portal invoice in your name.
If you still need to sit the UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts, and when results come out, see how to check your JAMB result. For the Chemistry paper, see our JAMB Chemistry syllabus guide.
Studying Horticultural Technology at Fed Poly Mubi
ND Horticultural Technology sits in the School of Agricultural Technology at Fed Poly Mubi. It covers the growing of fruit, vegetables, flowers and ornamental plants, from the nursery to the market.
What you study
- Plant propagation: seeds, cuttings, budding and grafting
- Vegetable and fruit crop production
- Landscaping, lawns and ornamental plants
- Irrigation and greenhouse basics
- Pest and disease control in horticultural crops
- Communication in English and general studies courses
Duration and accreditation
Under the standard NBTE structure, the ND runs for two years full time. Students who want the HND then do a one-year industrial attachment (SIWES or IT) before applying, and the HND usually asks for an ND at Lower Credit or above. Fed Poly Mubi has not published a course timetable, so treat this as the national pattern.
Fed Poly Mubi is a federal polytechnic regulated by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). I could not confirm the current NBTE accreditation status of ND Horticultural Technology itself. Ask the department, or check the NBTE’s list of accredited programmes, before you pay school fees.
Careers after the ND
- Nursery and greenhouse operator
- Landscaping and garden maintenance for estates, hotels and institutions
- Vegetable and fruit farming for markets
- Extension and seed-company work

Mistakes that cost Horticultural Technology applicants a place at Fed Poly Mubi
- Treating 100 as a safe score: it is the minimum to apply, not a promise of admission.
- Registering Biology and Agricultural Science in the UTME: the general line asks for Mathematics and two of Chemistry, Physics or Technical Drawing.
- No English credit: the Horticulture brochure page says a credit in English is required.
- Choosing the wrong Mubi institution: the polytechnic and the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi are separate choices on JAMB.
- O’level missing on CAPS: JAMB cannot process your admission without it.
- Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance fee payment and clearance at the polytechnic are separate steps.
Fed Poly Mubi Horticultural Technology cut-off: frequently asked questions
What subjects do I need for Horticultural Technology in Fed Poly Mubi? In the UTME: Use of English, Mathematics and any two of Chemistry, Physics or Technical Drawing. At O’level: five credits including Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus English.
Is Horticulture and Horticultural Technology the same course at Fed Poly Mubi? JAMB lists both names for the polytechnic with the same UTME line. The 2026/2027 notice lists only ND Horticultural Technology, so treat them as one course and confirm on the portal.
Can I use Agricultural Science in JAMB for Horticulture at Fed Poly Mubi? Not under the brochure’s general line, and there is no Fed Poly Mubi remark allowing it. Agricultural Science is useful at O’level instead.
What is the cut off mark for Horticultural Technology at Fed Poly Mubi? The minimum is 100, JAMB’s figure for polytechnics. No departmental figure has been published.
Sources and updates
The 100 minimum for polytechnics and the 31 December 2026 admission deadline come from the News Agency of Nigeria report of JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026). The 2025 figure of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025) and matching Blueprint and AllAfrica reports. The course list is from the Myschool reprint of JAMB’s Federal Polytechnic, Mubi course list and the 2026/2027 ND/HND admission notice reprinted by Myschool on 8 August 2026, which is cut off after the first engineering course. The UTME and O’level requirements are from JAMB’s polytechnic brochure as reprinted by Myschool (Horticultural Technology brochure page and Horticulture brochure page), neither of which has a Fed Poly Mubi remark. The 2026/2027 post-UTME form report is from AbsTechConnect (12 August 2026) and is unofficial. The polytechnic’s history (founded in 1979, moved from Yola to Mubi in 1982) is from Wikipedia, and the separation from the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi is from Leadership’s report on the 2023 approval of that university. The safe target scores and the worked example are my own advice. Checked on 3 November 2026; this page will be updated when Fed Poly Mubi publishes its 2027/2028 notice.
