The Brainfill Poly cut off mark for Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology is 100 in the UTME, which is JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics in 2026/2027. Brainfill Polytechnic, Ikot Ekpene has not published a separate cut-off for ND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, and I found no departmental figure for any year. Its own website states the same 100 minimum for ND applicants.
2027/2028 update: Brainfill Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Brainfill Polytechnic is a private polytechnic off Aba Road, Ikot Ekpene, near Mickon Filling Station. Its own website says ND applicants need a minimum UTME score of 100, which matches JAMB’s floor. NBTE’s 2025 Directory of Accredited Programmes lists the course at Brainfill with this status: Accredited (first granted 2022; 2025 accreditation, expires 1 October 2030), listed as “Electrical/Electronic Engineering”. That is full accreditation, which is the status you want for an ND you will later use for an HND or a job.

Brainfill Poly cut off mark for Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology: the figures
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official (JAMB 2026 policy meeting, reported by NAN on 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB minimum for polytechnics | Official (reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |
| 2026/2027 | 100 | Brainfill website: minimum UTME for ND | Official (school website, checked 3 November 2026) |
| Any year | None | Brainfill Poly figure for Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology | No published figure found |
JAMB kept the polytechnic floor at 100 for two years running, and Brainfill’s own website repeats 100 as its ND minimum. A polytechnic may set a higher mark for itself or for a busy course, so treat 100 as the legal minimum and aim higher if you can.
Safe target score (my advice)
For 2027 I would aim for 125 or more in the UTME for Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology at Brainfill Poly. That is my own target, based on how small private polytechnics in Akwa Ibom usually fill their classes; the school publishes no merit list or applicant numbers. If you land between 100 and 125 you can still apply, and your O’level grades and screening will carry more weight.
Brainfill Poly Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology subject combination and O’level requirements
| Requirement | ND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry |
| My suggested UTME combination | English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry |
| O’level (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB) | Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus two from Biology or Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics or Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Woodwork, Further Mathematics, English Language, Geography and Economics or Commerce |
| Sittings | Two sittings at most under the standard NBTE rule; the school has not published its own |
| Brainfill Poly remark in the brochure | None found; the base rule applies |
| Interview or practical | None published |
The UTME line is fixed: Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The only brochure remark I have seen on this page lets one Enugu institute accept Biology, and it does not apply here.
At O’level the base rule puts English Language on the optional list for this course. I would still have a credit in it. Almost every Nigerian polytechnic’s general admission rule asks for English and Mathematics, and without English you lose the fallback of switching to another course.
Direct Entry and HND
ND entry is through the UTME; there is no Direct Entry route into ND1. After the ND and industrial attachment you can go for HND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, usually split into a power and machines option and an electronics and telecommunication option. COREN keeps registers for engineering technicians and technologists. Brainfill’s website says HND applicants need an ND of at least Lower Credit. It advertises some HND courses, but none of them appears for Brainfill in NBTE’s 2025 Directory, so confirm NBTE approval before you plan around one.
Brainfill Poly screening and how selection works
Brainfill takes applications online. Its website has an apply page and a student portal at portal.brainfillpolytechnic.edu.ng, and it links a Paystack payment page. It does not publish the form price, a screening date or the format of any test, and the banner and body text disagree on the session (2025/2026 in one place, 2026/2027 in another). Ask the admissions office these questions before you pay:
- Is ND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology admitting full-time students for 2027/2028, and is it listed for the school on JAMB CAPS?
- What is the current NBTE accreditation status of the course?
- How much is the form, where do I pay, and what is the closing date?
- Is there a written test, and on which subjects?
- What are the acceptance fee and first-year fees, and is there a hostel?
Worked example (illustrative)
Take Ime, who wants Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology at Brainfill Poly. Ime scored 127 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and has English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics and Agricultural Science over two sittings.
- JAMB minimum: 127 is 27 above 100, so Ime is eligible.
- My safe target: 127 clears my 125 line for Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology.
- UTME subjects: The four subjects match the brochure line.
- O’level: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are credits, and English and Further Mathematics complete the five.
- School listing: before paying for anything, Ime checks that Brainfill Poly shows Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology on the JAMB portal.
If the school used a 50:50 aggregate, 127 divided by 8 gives 15.88 out of 50, and 30 out of 50 at screening would bring the total to 45.88. That formula is only an illustration. Brainfill Poly has not published one, and small private polytechnics often admit every candidate who meets the rules.
How to apply for Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology at Brainfill Poly, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME with the right subjects: use English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and choose Brainfill Polytechnic, Ikot Ekpene as your polytechnic. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution before screening.
- Upload your O’level result to CAPS: go to an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. CAPS cannot offer you admission without it.
- Apply to Brainfill: use the apply page on Brainfill’s website or visit the campus off Aba Road, Ikot Ekpene. Confirm the course and fee with the admissions office before you pay, and keep every receipt.
- Attend screening: take your UTME result slip, O’level result, birth certificate or age declaration, local government identification and passport photographs.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and register: get the amounts in writing from the bursary, pay only through the channel the school names, and complete medical and departmental registration.
Warning
Pay Brainfill fees only through the school’s own website, portal or bursary. Agents and WhatsApp groups selling forms or promising admission have no link to the school, and JAMB treats any admission outside CAPS as illegal.
Your chances and my advice
- If you meet the subject rules and score 100 or more, your main task is making sure Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology appears under Brainfill on the JAMB portal when you register.
- Full NBTE accreditation to 2030 covers the whole of a 2027/2028 ND, which is a point in this course’s favour.
- Ikot Ekpene candidates and those from Essien Udim, Ikono, Obot Akara and Abak can live at home, which cuts the cost of a two-year ND.
- Brainfill’s website also advertises courses that NBTE does not list for the school, such as ND Accountancy, Renewable Energy and Fashion and Designing. Do not register for one of those through JAMB unless the school shows you NBTE approval.
- JAMB told polytechnics to finish 2026/2027 admissions by 31 December 2026, so current candidates should keep checking CAPS until then.
What you study in ND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology
ND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology takes two years with a SIWES placement. You learn electrical installation, machines and power, and the electronics behind control and communication equipment. It is one of the most practical NDs, and the skills sell on their own if formal jobs are slow to come.
| Area | Typical topics |
|---|---|
| Electrical principles | Circuit theory, electrical measurement, electrical machines |
| Power | Power generation, transmission and distribution basics, electrical installation |
| Electronics | Electronic devices and circuits, digital electronics, telecommunication basics |
| Workshop | Electrical workshop practice, wiring, maintenance |
| Supporting courses | Engineering mathematics, technical drawing, computer applications, communication |
Brainfill Poly has not published its own course outline, so the table follows NBTE’s usual ND pattern. Typical first jobs with the ND include electrical installer, maintenance technician in factories and hotels, solar and inverter installer, technician with an electricity distribution company, or running an installation business.
