FCE Yola Cut-Off Mark for NCE Programmes 2027/2028: Requirements

FCE Yola has no UTME cut-off for NCE: four O’level credits and JAMB’s NCE registration are what you need. Full JAMB course list, gaps in blog lists, fees and steps.

FCE Yola has no UTME cut-off mark for its NCE programmes for 2027/2028 planning. Since the Federal Government and JAMB policy meeting of 11 May 2026, NCE candidates with at least four O’level credit passes do not sit the UTME. You register with JAMB through its NCE route, Federal College of Education, Yola recommends you, and JAMB confirms the offer on CAPS. The last numeric minimum was 100, JAMB’s national figure for colleges of education in 2025/2026. FCE Yola has not published a college or departmental cut-off for any year I could trace.

2027/2028 update: FCE Yola admission requirements and entry rules usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the details on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official position (the 2026/2027 national admission policy and JAMB’s June 2026 NCE registration guide). If the 2027/2028 rules change anything, we will update this page.

FCE Yola is a federal college of education in Yola, Adamawa State. JAMB’s course list for the college, as reprinted by Myschool, has 45 NCE courses and combinations, from Integrated Science to Arabic Medium. Several courses that blogs still list for FCE Yola, including the Fulfulde combinations, Home Economics and Physical and Health Education, are missing from that list. Below are the national rules, the full course list with links to our course guides, the gaps, the JAMB steps and fees, and what is known about the college’s screening.

Do you need JAMB for FCE Yola NCE in 2027?

Yes, you need JAMB registration. Whether you need a UTME score depends on your O’level:

  • No UTME with four credits: at the 11 May 2026 policy meeting the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, said NCE candidates with at least four credit passes no longer need to sit the UTME.
  • JAMB registration is still compulsory: you register through JAMB’s NCE route at an accredited centre, and your credentials are screened on CAPS before any admission letter is issued.
  • When it applies: Nairametrics reported on 11 May 2026 that the change starts from the 2027 admission cycle, while JAMB’s June 2026 NCE guide and its July 2026 registration notice applied it in 2026 already. Either way, a 2027/2028 candidate for NCE programmes at FCE Yola does not need a UTME score.
  • 2026 UTME candidates: JAMB’s guide moved UTME candidates whose first choice was a college of education to the NCE route for a ₦700 charge, and once a college recommends you for NCE, your UTME process is suspended.
  • Universities are different: the UTME stays compulsory for degree courses, with a 2026/2027 university minimum of 150.

NCE courses on JAMB’s list for FCE Yola

These are the courses JAMB lists for the college, grouped by area for easy reading. The grouping is mine; FCE Yola places courses in its own schools. Use the exact JAMB name when you register.

AreaCourses and combinations (JAMB names)Our guide
Sciences and MathematicsIntegrated Science; Biology/Integrated Science; Chemistry/Integrated Science; Biology/Mathematics; Chemistry/Mathematics; English/MathematicsIntegrated Science, Mathematics

Vocational and artsAgricultural Science (Double Major); Business Education; Fine and Applied Arts (Double Major)Agricultural Science, Business Education
Early childhood and primaryEarly Childhood Care Education; Primary Education Studies; Primary Education (Double Major)ECCE, Primary Education Studies

Two oddities on the list: Computer Education and Computer Science Education both appear, and Primary Education Studies appears next to Primary Education (Double Major). The college has not explained either pair, so ask its admissions office which name is current for 2027/2028. “Arabic Medium” is listed without explanation; colleges usually use it for courses taught through Arabic.

Courses on blog lists but not on JAMB’s list

The o3schools and schoolings.org lists for FCE Yola include courses that JAMB’s list does not show. You cannot register for them through JAMB at FCE Yola unless JAMB adds them:

  • Fulfulde with Arabic, English, Hausa, Islamic Studies or Social Studies (see our Fulfulde guide)
  • Home Economics and Physical and Health Education (see Home Economics and PHE)
  • French/Yoruba, French/Yoruba L2, French/Igbo L2, Hausa/Yoruba L2, Igbo/Hausa L2 and Igbo/Yoruba L2
  • History/Islamic Studies, Islamic Studies/Social Studies, Integrated Science/Physics and Integrated Science/Mathematics Education

The Igbo and Yoruba pairings that do appear on JAMB’s list (English/Igbo, English/Yoruba and their L2 forms, CRS/Yoruba) also deserve a check. They look like a standard brochure listing, and I found nothing showing FCE Yola actually admits students into them.

O’level requirements for FCE Yola NCE

The national rule for the UTME exemption is at least four O’level credit passes. FCE Yola has not published its own O’level wording in a source I could reach. A blog screening page quotes five credits including English and Mathematics, but it mixes in another college’s details, so I would not rely on it. Colleges of education have usually asked for credits in English and in the subjects you will teach, at no more than two sittings.

Safe target in place of a cut-off

This is consultant advice, not a college rule:

Course familyCredits I would want (my advice)
Sciences, Mathematics, ComputerEnglish, Mathematics, plus credits in the science or sciences you will teach
Languages (English, French, Arabic, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba)English, plus the language you will teach and Literature in English or another Arts subject
Religion and Social StudiesEnglish, plus CRS or Islamic Studies, and Social Studies, Civic Education, Government or Economics
Business EducationEnglish, Mathematics, plus Economics, Commerce, Financial Accounting or Office Practice
Agricultural ScienceEnglish, Mathematics, Agricultural Science and Biology or Chemistry
ECCE and Primary EducationEnglish and Mathematics, plus any three other credits

Direct Entry and degrees

There is no Direct Entry into the NCE. JAMB’s June 2026 guideline says all entrants into colleges of education come in through the NCE, with no 100 or 200 level entry. FCE Yola’s own degree side (the dual mandate) is a separate question covered in our FCE Yola degree programmes guide. After the NCE, Direct Entry works the other way: you can use the certificate to apply for a degree.

How to apply for NCE at FCE Yola

These steps follow JAMB’s 2026/2027 NCE registration flow, which is the latest official procedure.

  1. Get an O’level verification code: buy it from your exam body’s verification platform. JAMB lists ₦1,500 for one sitting and ₦2,000 for two.
  2. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  3. Create or open your e-Facility account: use the profile code at efacility.jamb.gov.ng if you do not already have a JAMB profile.
  4. Register for NCE at a CBT centre, PRC or IPRC: pay ₦3,500 plus the ₦700 centre charge, give your verification code, pick your NCE course exactly as JAMB lists it (for example English/Mathematics or Business Education) and choose your colleges. Put Federal College of Education, Yola as your first choice, because the registration goes to your first-choice college.
  5. Upload your O’level results: the centre uploads them and captures your photograph and fingerprints. If you are awaiting results, the college cannot propose you until the results are uploaded.
  6. Do the college’s screening if it calls for one: FCE Yola has not published a 2026/2027 screening notice that I could reach. A blog reports a ₦2,000 form on fceyola.admissions.cloud and a computer-based test on campus. Confirm it with the college before paying.
  7. College recommends you on CAPS: the admission officer proposes your name and the Provost recommends it to JAMB, which checks your O’level against the exam body’s records.
  8. Accept the offer on CAPS: log in to e-Facility, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Offers not accepted within four weeks are withdrawn. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  9. Pay acceptance and school charges, then clear: FCE Yola has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Pay only through an invoice from the college’s own portal or bursary, then print your JAMB admission letter for clearance.

JAMB fees for NCE registration

Warning

Every genuine FCE Yola admission shows on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB has said admissions outside CAPS are illegal. Do not pay anyone who promises an NCE place. Pay JAMB fees at a registration centre and college fees only through an invoice the college itself issues.

FCE Yola screening

No official FCE Yola screening notice for 2026/2027 reached me. A blog page on schoolings.org says the college sells a ₦2,000 screening form through fceyola.admissions.cloud and holds a computer-based test on the main campus, but it gives no dates and the same page contains errors copied from another college’s notice. It also still quotes a 100 UTME minimum, which no longer applies to NCE. Treat all of it as unconfirmed, and pay only after you see the fee on a page the college itself controls.

Worked example

This shows how the published rules apply. FCE Yola has not published a scoring formula.

Hauwa has NECO 2026 results from one sitting: English C5, Mathematics C6, Hausa B3, Islamic Studies B2, Literature in English C6, Civic Education C4, Biology D7. She wants a language course.

  1. Credits: six credits in one sitting, which clears the four-credit exemption.
  2. Matching combinations on JAMB’s list: English/Hausa, Arabic/Hausa (if she can show Arabic), English/Islamic Studies.
  3. Best fit: English/Hausa or English/Islamic Studies, where she has credits in both teaching subjects.
  4. JAMB-side cost: ₦1,500 + ₦3,500 + ₦700 = ₦5,700.

If she had picked Fulfulde/Hausa from a blog list, the CBT centre would not have found it under FCE Yola, and she would have lost time.

Admission chances and advice

  • Choose from JAMB’s list: it is the only list the registration centre can use.
  • Match your strongest credits: with no UTME score, your O’level in the teaching subjects is your case.
  • Register early and upload results early: the college cannot propose candidates whose results are not on JAMB’s portal.
  • Accept on CAPS within four weeks: JAMB withdraws offers that are not accepted.
  • Know the deadline: JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for colleges of education; that cycle runs until then.

About FCE Yola

Federal College of Education, Yola was established in 1974 and opened in 1975, according to Wikipedia, which lists its schools as Arts and Social Sciences, General Education, Language Programmes, Adult Education, Early Childhood Care and Primary Education, Sciences, and Vocational Studies. The NCE takes three years and combines two teaching subjects (or a double major) with education courses and teaching practice.

Accreditation and the dual mandate

The NCCE list of accredited colleges shows Federal College of Education, Yola with status “open” (checked 3 November 2026). That list covers the college, not each combination, so the accreditation of each course on its own is not confirmed. In December 2025 the News Agency of Nigeria reported that NUC had approved FCE Yola to award its own degrees under the dual mandate, so the college now runs degrees alongside the NCE. It has not been renamed. The college matriculated 934 students into its first dual-mandate degree cohort in June 2026, according to Peoples Gazette. The NCE continues alongside the degrees.

Careers

  • Teaching: the NCE is the minimum teaching qualification for Nigerian basic education.
  • A degree later: NCE holders can apply through JAMB Direct Entry for a related degree.
  • Other work: private schools, adult literacy programmes, and roles that need a recognised teaching certificate.
