The UNIUYO Electrical and Electronics Engineering cut off mark 2027/2028 candidates should plan with is 150 in the UTME, and only if UNIUYO is your first choice. That is the single minimum the University of Uyo published for its 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening, and it applies to every course. UNIUYO does not publish a separate departmental cut-off for Electrical and Electronics Engineering, so the score that actually wins a place is higher and changes each year.
2027/2028 update: UNIUYO cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Electrical/Electronics had one of the biggest graduating classes in UNIUYO’s Faculty of Engineering on the 2020/2021 convocation list, and it was not on the 2023/2024 supplementary vacancy list. Below are the official figures, a safe target score (my advice, clearly labelled), the JAMB subjects and O’level rules from the JAMB brochure, what NUC’s records show, how screening works, and the CAPS steps.

UNIUYO Electrical and Electronics Engineering cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Minimum UTME score to register for screening; UNIUYO must be first choice; same for every course | Official UNIUYO notice |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | Same rule, reported for the 2025/2026 screening invitation | Reported by a blog reprint (15 Aug 2025); original not seen |
| 2023/2024 supplementary | 140 | Minimum to switch into a course with vacancies after missing your first-choice course; Electrical and Electronics Engineering was not listed | Official notice signed by the Registrar |
| Any year | Not published | A departmental or merit cut-off for Electrical and Electronics Engineering | Figures on blogs are not from UNIUYO |
The supplementary list is the most useful clue UNIUYO gives about demand. In 2023/2024 the university invited candidates who had missed their first-choice course to switch into programmes with “limited vacancies”, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering was not on that list. My reading is that it filled in the main round, which is why I set the safe target higher than for the courses that did appear.
Several blogs print “UNIUYO departmental cut-off marks” with a figure for every course. I could not find a UNIUYO document behind any of them, so I don’t repeat those numbers here.
Safe target score for Electrical and Electronics Engineering at UNIUYO (my advice)
This is my judgement as an admissions adviser, based on the course’s popularity, the supplementary list and how federal universities usually fill places. It is not a UNIUYO rule.
| Your UTME score | My read for UNIUYO Electrical and Electronics Engineering |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible to screen at UNIUYO |
| 150 to 219 | Eligible, but weak on merit; your realistic hope is a related course or a supplementary round |
| 220 to 239 | Possible with strong O’level grades from one sitting |
| 240 to 264 | Competitive |
| 265 and above | Strong |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 240, with credits at B3 or better in the subjects named for the course.
First choice and catchment
UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 notice opened screening only to candidates who chose UNIUYO first in the UTME (and, for Direct Entry, in JAMB DE). It says nothing about second-choice candidates, so don’t plan on that route. As a federal university, UNIUYO is expected to follow JAMB’s general admission guideline of merit, catchment and educationally less developed states, but it has not published its own split or catchment list, so I would not count on catchment to rescue a low score.
JAMB subject combination and O’level for Electrical and Electronics Engineering at UNIUYO
| Requirement | Electrical and Electronics Engineering at UNIUYO |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English plus Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry |
| UNIUYO UTME remark | There is no UNIUYO remark on the UTME line |
| My recommended UTME set | English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry |
| O’level (JAMB general line) | Five credits including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and one other science subject |
| O’level (UNIUYO remark) | No UNIUYO-specific remark, so the general line applies |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or GCE |
| Sittings | Not stated in UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 notice; one sitting is safer in a competitive pool |
Nothing unusual here: three sciences in the UTME and five clean credits at O’level. UNIUYO’s Direct Entry remark is friendlier than the general rule, since it accepts any two science A-levels.
These lines come from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure, which I checked on 3 November 2026. JAMB’s own e-brochure on your profile is the final word, so read the UNIUYO remark there before you register for the 2027 UTME. Once you register, you cannot change your subjects.
Direct Entry into Electrical and Electronics Engineering at UNIUYO
- JAMB’s general rule: Two A-level passes in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry.
- UNIUYO remark: Two remarks name UNIUYO: one says NUN and UNIUYO accept any two A-level passes in science subjects; another says “UYO” accepts an ND or HND in relevant programmes plus the UTME requirements.
- Screening: UNIUYO screened DE candidates who chose UNIUYO first in JAMB Direct Entry, alongside UTME candidates, in 2026/2027.
NUC accreditation: what the record shows
NUC has put its reports from the November and December 2024 visits to UNIUYO online, covering programmes such as Architecture, Computer Science and many education courses. I searched those reports for Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Uyo and did not find one, so I can’t confirm its current NUC status. A missing online report is not proof of a problem; NUC’s online list is incomplete.
What I can confirm is that the programme produces graduates: “B. Engineering (Hons) Electrical/Electronics Engineering” appears on UNIUYO’s 29th convocation list for the 2020/2021 set, published in September 2024. COREN’s own approval is a separate matter that I could not check. Ask the Faculty of Engineering for the programme’s current NUC and COREN status before you accept.
How UNIUYO screening works for Electrical and Electronics Engineering
| Detail | UNIUYO 2026/2027 screening |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | Candidates who chose UNIUYO first in the 2026 UTME and scored at least 150; DE candidates with UNIUYO as first choice |
| Fee | ₦2,000 (Myschool and blog reprints); paid with a Remita RRR |
| Portal | admissions.uniuyo.edu.ng |
| Uploads | Documents in PDF on the form |
| Output | A printed 2026/2027 Screening Exercise Slip |
| Closing date | Friday 7 August 2026, according to a blog reprint (not on the official page); closed |
| Test format | Not published. The notice says “screening exercise” only |
| Aggregate formula | Not published |
Because UNIUYO does not publish its test format or formula, anyone who tells you exactly how Electrical and Electronics Engineering candidates are ranked is guessing. What you control is the size of your UTME score, the quality and number of your O’level sittings, and whether your documents are in order.
Worked example for an Electrical and Electronics Engineering candidate
Take Asuquo, who scored 243 in the UTME with B2 in English, B2 in Mathematics, B2 in Physics, B3 in Chemistry and C4 in Biology, one sitting.
- Eligibility: 243 minus 150 = 93. Asuquo clears UNIUYO’s minimum by 93 marks.
- Against my safe target: 243 minus 240 = 3. Asuquo is 3 marks above the score I would call competitive.
- O’level check: the right subjects are covered, so nothing in the brochure rules Asuquo out.
- Illustration only: many Nigerian universities convert the UTME to a mark out of 50 by dividing by 8 and add a screening score out of 50. On that method Asuquo’s UTME is worth 30.4 points. UNIUYO has not said it uses this method; I show it because it explains why every 8 UTME marks is worth one aggregate point.
Utibe scored 198. 198 minus 150 = 48, so Utibe can register for screening, but on the same illustrative method the UTME is worth 24.8 points, 5.6 behind Asuquo before any screening score is added. Unless the course has vacancies late in the cycle, Utibe should keep an eye on CAPS for a transfer offer to a related course and be ready to accept it.
How to apply for Electrical and Electronics Engineering at UNIUYO, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose Electrical and Electronics Engineering (listed on JAMB as “Electrical / Electronics Engineering”), make UNIUYO your first choice, and register English with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at an accredited CBT centre once your results are out. UNIUYO cannot admit you on CAPS without it.
- Create a screening account: when UNIUYO’s Post-UTME notice opens, go to admissions.uniuyo.edu.ng, create an account and verify it.
- Pay with Remita: generate the RRR on the portal and pay the screening fee (₦2,000 in 2026/2027, as reported).
- Complete the form and print: fill in your details, upload your documents in PDF, submit and print the Screening Exercise Slip.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and then Access my CAPS. Accept the offer within the window JAMB allows (four weeks, per JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting).
- Pay acceptance and clear: UNIUYO did not publish its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Pay only through the UNIUYO portal and keep every receipt for clearance.
Warning
UNIUYO’s notice limited screening to candidates who chose UNIUYO first. If UNIUYO is your second choice, do a JAMB change of institution before the screening opens. Every genuine offer appears on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB says admissions outside CAPS are illegal, so never pay anyone for a “slot”.
JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for public universities; that date has now passed. UNIUYO is a federal university, so its main 2026/2027 round has closed under JAMB’s timetable, although late or supplementary offers can still show up on CAPS. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status, and JAMB change of institution covers moving UNIUYO to first choice.
Other routes into Electrical and Electronics Engineering at UNIUYO
Basic Studies (one year, no JAMB score)
UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 Basic Studies advert, signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Blossom E. Okorie, in May 2026, lists every degree course by faculty, including Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Basic Studies needs five credits including English and Mathematics plus three relevant subjects at not more than two sittings, and no JAMB score. Admission is usually through a CBT screening test, and students who pass can enter 200 level through JAMB Direct Entry if they meet the course criteria. The fee was printed as “N15,5000”, which I read as ₦15,500. Registration closed on 30 September 2026 and the main screening test was set for 27 October to 7 November 2026.
UNIUYO’s Pre-Degree programme is advertised for science, agriculture and education courses (fee ₦10,500); the advert does not name Engineering, and it contradicts itself on JAMB scores, so ask the admissions office before choosing that route.
Supplementary admission
In 2023/2024, UNIUYO let screened candidates who missed their first-choice course apply for a programme with vacancies, provided their UTME and O’level subjects matched the new course. The window ran from 28 September to 6 October 2023 on the e-portal. A 2025/2026 supplementary exercise was also reported. If Electrical and Electronics Engineering is not your first love but fits your subjects, this is where it can save your year.
Studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering at UNIUYO
Electrical and Electronics Engineering is in UNIUYO’s Faculty of Engineering, and the degree printed on the 2020/2021 convocation list is the B.Eng (Hons). NUC’s standard length for a B.Eng through the UTME is five years; UNIUYO’s pages I reached do not state it. The 2026/2027 advert lists eight engineering programmes: Agricultural, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical and Electronics, Food, Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering.

Mistakes that cost Electrical and Electronics Engineering applicants a UNIUYO place
- Expecting a supplementary place: the course was not on the 2023/2024 supplementary list.
- Weak Physics: the whole course rests on it.
- Treating 150 as an admission score: it only lets you register for screening.
- UNIUYO as second choice: the 2026/2027 notice screened first-choice candidates only.
- O’level not on CAPS: without it, UNIUYO cannot offer you admission.
- Ignoring CAPS: an offer you do not accept in time can be lost, and a transfer offer to a related course needs a quick decision.
If your 2026 score was not enough, see what to do with your JAMB score and how JAMB change of course works.
UNIUYO Electrical and Electronics Engineering cut off mark: frequently asked questions
What is the UNIUYO cut off mark for Electrical and Electronics Engineering? UNIUYO’s only published minimum is 150 in the UTME, with UNIUYO as first choice, and it applies to every course. There is no published departmental cut-off; my safe target for Electrical and Electronics Engineering is 240 or higher.
Is 210 enough for Electrical Engineering in UNIUYO? 210 clears the 150 minimum, but in a course that fills in the main round it is a long shot. I would aim for 240 or more.
Can I enter UNIUYO Electrical Engineering with A-levels? Yes. JAMB’s brochure says NUN and UNIUYO accept any two A-level passes in science subjects for Direct Entry.
Does UNIUYO accept second choice candidates for Electrical and Electronics Engineering? UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 screening notice was open only to candidates who chose UNIUYO first. If it was your second choice, do a JAMB change of institution before screening opens.
Sources and updates
The 150 minimum, the first-choice rule, the Remita payment and the portal steps come from UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening notice, checked on 3 November 2026; the ₦2,000 fee is from Myschool’s reprint (5 June 2026) and a blog reprint, and the 7 August 2026 closing date is from that blog only. The 2025/2026 figure is from a blog reprint (15 August 2025). The 140 supplementary threshold and the 2023/2024 vacancy list are from UNIUYO’s 2023/2024 supplementary admission notice, signed by the Registrar. The Basic Studies and Pre-Degree details are from UNIUYO’s Basic Studies and Pre-Degree advert (May 2026). The national minimum of 150, the 31 October 2026 deadline, the four-week CAPS window and the warning on admissions outside CAPS come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026); News Central’s list of institution figures from that meeting did not include UNIUYO. The subject requirements and UNIUYO remarks come from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure entry for Electrical / Electronics Engineering, checked on 3 November 2026. I found no NUC report naming UNIUYO for this programme. The degree title and graduates are from UNIUYO’s Faculty of Engineering 29th convocation list (published September 2024). The safe target score, the illustrative aggregate and the career notes are my own advice. This page will be updated when UNIUYO publishes its 2027/2028 screening notice.
