The ASCOAST Ganye Fisheries Technology cut off mark has not been published, so plan with JAMB’s 2026/2027 minimum of 100 for polytechnics and monotechnics. Fisheries is an agriculture-related course, so the 2026 rule exempting non-technology agriculture ND candidates from the UTME probably covers it, although JAMB did not publish a list. Whichever route you use, JAMB registration, CAPS and five O’level credits with English and Chemistry are required.
2027/2028 update: ASCOAST cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They are based on JAMB’s 2026 national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics, because ASCOAST has not published its own course cut-offs. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Some context first. The Adamawa State College of Agriculture, Ganye was renamed the Adamawa State College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ganye (ASCOAST) by a 2024 state law that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri signed in November 2024. In March 2026 a National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) team visited the college to assess ten programmes for accreditation, and Fisheries Technology was one of them (listed in the government report as “Fisheries Production Technology”). The result of that visit has not been published. I found no ASCOAST website, admission portal or 2026/2027 advert, so this page sticks to JAMB’s national rules and the brochure, and labels my advice as mine.
A warning about one source. Myschool’s ASCOAST page shows admission news (a first batch list of 23 September 2026 and a screening exercise on adcoties.edu.ng) that belongs to ADCOTIES, the Adamawa State College of Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Studies, Gulak. That is a different college. Do not use those dates or that portal for Ganye.

ASCOAST Ganye Fisheries Technology cut off mark: cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum UTME for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official (NAN, 11 May 2026) |

| 2025/2026 | Not published | ASCOAST’s own minimum for Fisheries Technology | No figure found |
If a blog gives a single “ASCOAST cut-off mark” for every course, check where it came from. I found no document from the college setting any figure, so the only official numbers are JAMB’s national floors. Never treat a blog figure as official until the college publishes it.
Do you need UTME for Fisheries Technology at ASCOAST?
Possibly not. At JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting on 11 May 2026, the Minister of Education said ND candidates for non-technology agricultural and agriculture-related courses would no longer sit the UTME, in the same way as NCE candidates. JAMB’s own post on X described the group as “Agriculture non-Engineering Courses”. These candidates must still register with JAMB, and their admission still goes through CAPS. JAMB’s June 2026 registration guide covers this NCE and ND route.
The catch is that JAMB did not publish a list of the ND courses that count. Fisheries Technology sounds like an agriculture-related, non-engineering course, so I expect it to be covered, but that is my reading, not a JAMB statement.
- If the course is covered: you register with JAMB through the NCE/ND route, upload your O’level with a verification code, and the college admits you on your O’level results through CAPS. No UTME score is needed.
- If it is not covered: you write the UTME and need at least 100, JAMB’s 2026/2027 minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics, with ASCOAST as your choice.
- My advice: if you are sitting the 2027 UTME anyway, choose the right subjects and aim well above 100. You lose nothing, and you are covered whichever way JAMB applies the rule.
Nairametrics reported that the exemption would start with the 2027 admission cycle, while JAMB’s June 2026 guide and the July 2026 registration opening show it already in use in 2026. For a 2027/2028 candidate, both readings point the same way.
Safe target score for Fisheries Technology at ASCOAST (my advice)
This is my judgement as an admissions adviser, not an ASCOAST rule. A college whose courses are still awaiting an NBTE result rarely has more applicants than places, so the national floor may be enough. Still, a margin protects you if the college ranks candidates.
| UTME score | My read for ASCOAST Fisheries Technology |
|---|---|
| No UTME (if JAMB confirms the course is in the agriculture exemption) | Admission rests on your O’level and CAPS; aim for five credits in one sitting |
| Below 100 | Below JAMB’s polytechnic minimum; only the no-UTME route could help |
| 100 to 129 | Meets the floor; likely enough at a young college, but not guaranteed |
| 130 and above | Comfortable. This is the margin I would aim for if you write the UTME |
ASCOAST Fisheries Technology subject combination and O’level requirements
| Requirement | What the JAMB polytechnic brochure says |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Biology or Agricultural Science, and two of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics |
| O’level | Five credits in Biology or Agricultural Science and Mathematics, plus three from Geography, Food and Nutrition, Economics, Technical Drawing, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, a Nigerian language or Home Economics; credits in English Language and Chemistry are compulsory |
| ASCOAST remark in the brochure | None found; the general rule above applies |
| Sittings | Not more than two sittings is the usual polytechnic rule; ASCOAST has not published its own |
| Awaiting results | Not published by ASCOAST; CAPS cannot process you until the result is uploaded |
The UTME line is flexible: Economics is allowed alongside the sciences. The O’level line is stricter, because English and Chemistry are compulsory credits. Plan your fifth credit from Physics, Geography or Economics.
Direct Entry and HND
The ND is the entry point, so there is no Direct Entry into ND. On HND, a blog reported in May 2026 that ASCOAST had opened a 2026/2027 HND form for three programmes, but it did not name them and I could not confirm it with the college. HND normally needs an ND with at least a lower credit and a year of industrial experience. Ask ASCOAST whether Fisheries Technology is one of the HND programmes before you plan around it.
How ASCOAST screening works
ASCOAST has not published a screening exercise, form price, dates or portal for 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 in any source I reached. A blog headline claims the 2026/2027 form is out, but the page would not open and I could not check what it said. Colleges like this usually sell a form, check O’level and UTME documents, and then propose candidates on CAPS. Until the college publishes its process, treat any form link you are sent as unconfirmed.
Worked example for an ND Fisheries Technology applicant (illustrative)
ASCOAST has not published an aggregate method, so this example only tests a candidate against JAMB’s rules and the brochure.
Nathaniel scored 109 in the UTME with Biology, Chemistry and Economics. His one WAEC sitting has English C6, Mathematics C5, Biology C4, Chemistry C6, Agricultural Science B3 and Geography D7.
- UTME check: 109 clears 100, and Biology with Chemistry and Economics fits the brochure line.
- O’level check: English and Chemistry (compulsory), plus Biology, Mathematics and Agricultural Science: five credits.
- Exemption check: if JAMB treats the course as non-technology agriculture, his UTME was optional.
- Next step: confirm ASCOAST Ganye is his choice, upload his O’level and watch CAPS.
Halima has six credits in one sitting, including Biology, Chemistry, English and Mathematics, but did not register for the UTME. She registers through JAMB’s special NCE/ND route with ASCOAST as her choice, and asks the college to confirm the course is in the no-UTME group. If it is not, she registers for the 2027 UTME.
Your chances of getting Fisheries Technology at ASCOAST
ASCOAST does not publish applicant numbers, and Fisheries rarely has long queues. In my judgement, the right five credits plus 100 in the UTME (or the no-UTME registration) put you in a good position. The usual problem is a missing Chemistry credit.
- Pick ASCOAST correctly on JAMB. Make sure the institution you select is the Ganye college, not ADCOTIES Gulak or another Adamawa college.
- Get your O’level onto CAPS early. Many polytechnic admissions stall because the result was never uploaded.
- Ask about NBTE status. A course still awaiting accreditation can be delayed or paused.
- Watch CAPS. The offer is not valid until you accept it there.
How to apply for Fisheries Technology at ASCOAST, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Choose your route: register for the UTME with the subjects above, or, if JAMB confirms this course is in the no-UTME agriculture group, register through JAMB’s NCE/ND route at an accredited centre with your O’level verification code.
- Score at least 100 if you write the UTME: that is JAMB’s polytechnic minimum. My safe target is in the table above.
- Upload your O’level: at a JAMB centre, so CAPS can see your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB results.
- Make ASCOAST your choice: if it was not, use JAMB change of institution before admissions close.
- Buy the ASCOAST form only from the college: it has not published a portal in any source I reached. Visit or call the admissions office in Ganye before you pay.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay the acceptance fee and register: ASCOAST has not published its fees. Pay only through the channel on your admission letter.
JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for polytechnics and monotechnics, and that window runs until 31 December 2026. A 2027/2028 deadline will come with the 2027 policy meeting.
Warning
The Federal Government has said that any admission done outside JAMB CAPS is illegal and will not be recognised. If someone offers you a place that does not show on CAPS, or asks for money to “process” one, walk away.
Studying Fisheries Technology at ASCOAST
ASCOAST is a state-owned college in Ganye, Adamawa State. It has not published its school structure, so I have not placed Fisheries Technology in a named school. Fish farming has spread across Adamawa, from homestead ponds to river fisheries on the Benue, which gives the course a practical market.
What you study
- Fish biology: identification, anatomy and physiology of fish.
- Aquaculture: pond construction, hatchery work, fish breeding and feeding.
- Fisheries management: capture fisheries, gear and craft, and conservation.
- Processing and marketing: smoking, drying, preservation and fish business.
- Practical work: pond and hatchery practice and SIWES placement.
Duration and accreditation
An NBTE National Diploma normally takes two years, including a period of industrial training (SIWES). ASCOAST has not stated its own duration. On accreditation, the most I can confirm is that the course was one of the ten NBTE assessed in March 2026; the result has not been published. Ask the college for its NBTE letter before you accept an offer.
Careers after the ND
- Fish farms and hatcheries: as a technician or farm manager.
- Government services: state fisheries departments and extension work.
- Self-employment: catfish farming, fingerling production and fish feed sales.
- Further study: HND in Fisheries Technology or a degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Mistakes Fisheries Technology applicants make
- Applying without a Chemistry credit: the brochure makes it compulsory at O’level.
- Leaving out Biology or Agricultural Science in the UTME: the line starts with one of them.
- Using ADCOTIES Gulak dates or portal for Ganye: Myschool shows that college’s news on the ASCOAST page.
- Paying for a form from a WhatsApp link: ASCOAST has not published a portal. Confirm at the college first.
- Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance fee and college registration are separate steps.
ASCOAST Ganye Fisheries Technology cut off mark: frequently asked questions
What is the cut-off mark for Fisheries at ASCOAST Ganye? ASCOAST has not published one. JAMB’s minimum for polytechnics is 100 for 2026/2027, and Fisheries probably falls under the 2026 no-UTME rule for non-technology agriculture ND.
Can I use Economics in the UTME for Fisheries Technology? Yes. The brochure line is Biology or Agricultural Science plus two of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics.
Is Fisheries Technology at ASCOAST accredited? It was among ten programmes NBTE assessed in March 2026, listed as Fisheries Production Technology. The result has not been published.
Can I start a fish farm with an ND? Yes. Many graduates run their own ponds. The ND gives you hatchery, feeding and disease skills that cut losses in the first year.
Sources and updates
The 2026/2027 polytechnic minimum of 100, the 31 December 2026 deadline and the warning that admissions outside CAPS are illegal come from the News Agency of Nigeria report of 11 May 2026 on JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting; the UTME exemption for NCE and non-technology agriculture ND candidates was also reported by TheNigeriaLawyer the same day, and JAMB’s registration flow for those candidates is in JAMB’s 2026 NCE and ND registration guide. The 2025/2026 minimum of 100 is from Nairametrics, 8 July 2025. The rename to ASCOAST is from the Adamawa State Government report of 8 November 2024, and the NBTE accreditation visit and list of ten programmes are from the Adamawa State Government report of 30 March 2026 and Daily Trust (6 April 2026). The UTME and O’level lines are from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB polytechnic brochure for Fisheries Technology, checked on 3 November 2026. The HND claim is from a May 2026 blog post (abstechconnect) and is unconfirmed. ASCOAST’s own cut-off, form, screening and fees were not published in any source reached. Checked on 3 November 2026; this page will be updated when ASCOAST or JAMB publishes the 2027/2028 position.
