UNIUYO Quantity Surveying Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Requirements

UNIUYO asks for at least 150 in the UTME for Quantity Surveying, with UNIUYO as first choice. Here is a safe target score, the subjects, O’level rules and how screening works.

The UNIUYO Quantity Surveying cut off mark for 2027 planning starts at 150 in the UTME. That is the only minimum the University of Uyo published for its 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening, and it applied to every course, Quantity Surveying included, for candidates who chose UNIUYO as their first choice. UNIUYO did not publish a separate departmental cut-off for Quantity Surveying.

2027/2028 update: UNIUYO cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Quantity Surveying is one of the six courses in UNIUYO’s Faculty of Environmental Studies, alongside Architecture, Building, Estate Management, Geoinformatics and Surveying, and Urban and Regional Planning. Below are the official figures, the score I would actually aim for, the subject rules from the JAMB brochure (including UNIUYO’s own O’level remark), how the screening works, and what you study.

2023/2024 supplementary140 and aboveFor screening registrants not admitted into their first-choice courseOfficial UNIUYO notice signed by the Registrar

Quantity Surveying was one of the courses with vacancies in UNIUYO’s 2023/2024 supplementary admission (listed as “Quantity Surveying”), which invited screening candidates with 140 and above who had missed their first-choice course. That tells you the course did not fill completely from first-choice applicants that year. It is a useful sign for a candidate in the 160s or 170s, but the 2023/2024 position may not repeat.

Some blogs print a list of UNIUYO departmental cut-offs with a number for each course. None of those lists points to a UNIUYO document, so I don’t use them here and I wouldn’t plan around them.

Why 150 is not the score that gets you admitted

UNIUYO fills Quantity Surveying on merit from first-choice candidates who registered for screening. It does not publish the lowest score admitted, and that score moves each year with the number of applicants. Quantity Surveying usually draws fewer applicants than Architecture at Nigerian universities, and UNIUYO had spare places in it during the 2023/2024 supplementary exercise. Even so, a candidate with 152 is competing with candidates in the 190s and 200s, and the department picks from the top.

JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities to finish admissions; that date has now passed, and UNIUYO is a federal university. Late or supplementary offers can still show up on JAMB CAPS after a main list, so 2026 candidates should keep checking CAPS. For everyone else, the planning is for the 2027 UTME and the 2027/2028 session.

Safe target score for Quantity Surveying at UNIUYO (my advice)

This is my judgement as an admissions adviser, built on the 150 minimum, how Quantity Surveying usually compares with other UNIUYO courses, and what supplementary notices have shown. It is not a UNIUYO rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for UNIUYO Quantity Surveying
Below 150Not eligible. UNIUYO only screened candidates with 150 or more.
150 to 169Eligible to apply, but the main merit list is unlikely. Watch for a supplementary exercise.
170 to 199Possible, mainly with strong O’level grades and if demand is normal that year.
200 to 219Competitive. This is my safe target score.
220 and aboveStrong. You should be in a good position if your O’level and subjects are right.

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 200, with credits (ideally B3 or better) in English, Mathematics and Physics. If you land between 170 and 199, apply anyway and stay alert for a supplementary exercise.

UTME subject combination and O’level for UNIUYO Quantity Surveying

RequirementQuantity Surveying at UNIUYO
UTME subjectsUse of English, Physics, Mathematics, and one of Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology or Economics (JAMB brochure, general rule)
O’level (UNIUYO remark)Five credits including English Language, Mathematics and Physics, plus any two of Chemistry, Economics, Geography and Technical Drawing
SittingsNot stated for the course; UNIUYO’s Basic Studies advert allows two sittings, and one sitting is safer
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO, NABTEB or GCE
Direct EntryTwo A level passes (Mathematics or Physics, and Chemistry, Geography or Fine Arts) or ND/HND upper credit in a relevant field

The O’level line in the table is UNIUYO’s own remark in Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure, so it is more specific than the general rule. Physics and Mathematics are not optional. Technical Drawing counts as one of your two extra subjects, which helps candidates from technical schools.

For the UTME, Chemistry is the most flexible fourth subject, because it also works for Building and the engineering courses if you later need a change of course. Economics or Geography also work. Check the UNIUYO line on your JAMB e-brochure before you pay for registration.

Direct Entry into Quantity Surveying

The general JAMB rule takes two A level passes or an ND/HND at upper credit in a relevant field. The UNIUYO Direct Entry remarks printed on the same brochure page talk about Land Surveying, Surveying and Geoinformatics and the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo, which look like they belong to the surveying course. Don’t assume they apply to Quantity Surveying; ask the department before you choose UNIUYO for DE.

How UNIUYO screening works

UNIUYO runs one Post-UTME/Direct Entry screening exercise for all courses. Here is what the 2026/2027 exercise looked like.

DetailUNIUYO 2026/2027
Who could applyCandidates who chose UNIUYO as 1st choice in the 2026 UTME and scored at least 150, and DE candidates who chose UNIUYO 1st

Fee₦2,000 through a Remita RRR (amount from reprints; the official page shows only the Remita method)
DocumentsUploaded as PDF on the portal

Test formatNot published in the notice, which says only “screening exercise”
Aggregate formulaNot published
Closing dateFriday 7 August 2026 according to abstechconnect; not on the official page

Because UNIUYO has not said whether the regular screening includes a written test, prepare as if there is one. Revise your four UTME subjects and keep your O’level result, UTME result slip and any other document the portal asks for ready as clear PDFs. The guidelines page on eportals.uniuyo.edu.ng is the place to check once the 2027/2028 form opens.

Worked example for a Quantity Surveying candidate

UNIUYO has no published aggregate formula, so the useful calculation is the gap between your UTME score, the 150 minimum and the safe target. The figures below are illustrations, not UNIUYO results.

Take Iniobong, who scored 212 with B3 in English, B2 in Mathematics, B3 in Physics, C4 in Chemistry and C5 in Technical Drawing from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 212 minus 150 = 62. Iniobong clears UNIUYO’s minimum by 62 marks.
  2. Against my safe target: 212 minus 200 = 12. Iniobong is 12 marks above the score I treat as competitive.
  3. O’level check: all three compulsory credits are there, plus two from UNIUYO’s list. Nothing rules him out.
  4. What I would advise: keep Quantity Surveying, register for screening early and keep checking CAPS.

Mfon scored 168. 168 minus 150 = 18, so she can register for screening. She is 32 marks below my target, so the main list is uncertain. I would tell her to accept a supplementary offer into a related Environmental Studies course if one appears, or to resit the UTME with a clear plan.

How to apply for Quantity Surveying at UNIUYO, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register for the UTME: choose Quantity Surveying with English, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry (or Economics or Geography), and make UNIUYO your first choice.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as your results are out. UNIUYO cannot offer you admission on CAPS without it.
  4. Create your screening account: go to admissions.uniuyo.edu.ng when the Post-UTME notice is out, create an account and verify your email.
  5. Pay the fee: generate a Remita RRR on the portal and pay (₦2,000 in 2026/2027, per reprints).
  6. Complete the form and print your slip: fill the application form, upload your documents in PDF and print the Screening Exercise Slip.
  7. Accept on CAPS: when an offer appears, log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay acceptance and clear: UNIUYO has not published its acceptance fee in the official pages I reached, so confirm the amount on the UNIUYO portal before you pay anything.

Warning

UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 screening notice was open only to candidates who chose UNIUYO as first choice. If UNIUYO is your second choice, do a JAMB change of institution before the screening form opens, or you may not be able to register at all. Pay only through the Remita RRR generated on the UNIUYO portal.

If you need to fix your choice of school or course, read our guides to JAMB change of institution and JAMB change of course.

Other ways into Quantity Surveying at UNIUYO

UNIUYO’s May 2026 advert, signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Blossom E. Okorie, describes two one-year programmes that feed into degree courses. The Pre-Degree programme is only for science, agriculture and education courses, so Basic Studies is the one that applies here.

  • Basic Studies: open to all faculties. You need five credits including English and Mathematics plus three relevant subjects, at not more than two sittings. Admission is usually through a CBT screening test, and no JAMB score is required. Successful students can move into 200 level through JAMB Direct Entry if they meet the course rules. The form cost ₦15,500 (the advert prints it as “N15,5000”).

For 2026/2027, Basic Studies registration closed on 30 September 2026 and the screening test was set for 27 October to 7 November 2026. Expect similar timing in 2027, but wait for the new advert.

Studying Quantity Surveying at UNIUYO

Quantity Surveying sits in the Faculty of Environmental Studies. Nigerian universities usually award a B.Sc. in Quantity Surveying over five years, with industrial training in between; UNIUYO’s own degree title and duration were not confirmed in the pages I reached, so treat five years as the usual standard.

Accreditation

I could not find an NUC accreditation report for UNIUYO Quantity Surveying, so I can’t tell you its status. Other Environmental Studies programmes at UNIUYO, Architecture (Full, 84.8%) and Survey and Geo-Informatics (Full, 84%), had full NUC accreditation after visits in November 2024. Ask the department for the current Quantity Surveying result before you accept an offer.

What you study

  • Building construction technology and materials
  • Measurement of building and civil engineering work, and preparing bills of quantities
  • Cost estimating, cost planning and cost control
  • Contract procedure, procurement and construction law
  • Measurement of mechanical and electrical services
  • Project management, valuation basics and a final-year project

Careers after Quantity Surveying

Graduates work as consultant quantity surveyors, contractors’ surveyors, cost engineers on oil and gas or infrastructure projects, procurement officers in ministries and agencies, and claims or contract administrators. Professional practice in Nigeria involves registration with the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria after graduation and experience.

If you are also considering a university in Calabar, see our UNICAL cut-off mark guide.

Mistakes that cost Quantity Surveying applicants a UNIUYO place

  • Dropping Physics: UNIUYO’s O’level remark lists it as compulsory, and the UTME rule requires it too.
  • Picking Technical Drawing as a UTME subject without checking: it is accepted at O’level, but the UTME list names Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology or Economics.
  • Treating 150 as an admission score: it is only the minimum to register for screening.
  • Making UNIUYO your second choice: the 2026/2027 notice screened 1st-choice candidates only.
  • No O’level on CAPS: an offer cannot be completed without it.
  • Ignoring the supplementary exercise: UNIUYO has run one in past sessions for candidates who missed their first-choice course.

If you are writing the UTME again, see when JAMB 2027 registration starts and how to check your JAMB result and use the score.

UNIUYO Quantity Surveying cut off mark: frequently asked questions

Is 180 enough for Quantity Surveying in UNIUYO? It clears the 150 minimum, so you can register for screening. It is below my safe target of 200, so you may need strong O’level grades or a supplementary offer.

Can I use Technical Drawing for Quantity Surveying at UNIUYO? Yes at O’level: UNIUYO lists it among the subjects you can add to English, Mathematics and Physics. For the UTME, use Chemistry, Geography, Economics, Biology or Art as your fourth subject.

How many years is Quantity Surveying in UNIUYO? Nigerian universities usually run it for five years. UNIUYO has not confirmed the duration in the pages I checked.

Does UNIUYO accept second choice for Quantity Surveying? The 2026/2027 screening notice was for candidates who chose UNIUYO first. Do a change of institution if UNIUYO was your second choice.

Sources and updates

The 150 minimum, the 1st-choice rule, the Remita payment and the portal steps come from UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 Post-UTME/Direct Entry screening notice on uniuyo.edu.ng (the page carries a reused 2023/2024 web address). Myschool’s reprint of 5 June 2026 also gives 150 and the ₦2,000 fee. The 2023/2024 figure of 140 is from UNIUYO’s 2023/2024 supplementary admission notice, signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Blossom E. Okorie; the 2025/2026 figures are reported by abstechconnect (15 August 2025) and Myschool (18 October 2025). The Basic Studies and Pre-Degree details are from UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 Basic Studies and Pre-Degree advert (May 2026). The national minimum of 150 and the 31 October 2026 deadline for public universities come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). The UTME, O’level and Direct Entry rules, including UNIUYO’s O’level remark, are from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure for Quantity Surveying. The Architecture and Survey and Geo-Informatics results are from NUC accreditation reports (visits in November 2024). The safe target score is my own advice. Checked on 3 November 2026; this page will be updated if UNIUYO publishes a departmental cut-off or a 2027/2028 notice.
