The Brainfill Poly cut off mark for Statistics is 100 in the UTME, which is JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics in 2026/2027. Brainfill Polytechnic, Ikot Ekpene has not published a separate cut-off for ND Statistics, and I found no departmental figure for any year. Its own website states the same 100 minimum for ND applicants.
2027/2028 update: Brainfill Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Brainfill Polytechnic is a private polytechnic off Aba Road, Ikot Ekpene, near Mickon Filling Station. Its own website says ND applicants need a minimum UTME score of 100, which matches JAMB’s floor. NBTE’s 2025 Directory of Accredited Programmes lists the course at Brainfill with this status: Interim approval (2025), expires 1 October 2027. Interim approval lets a school run a new course until NBTE’s full accreditation visit, so ask the school whether that visit has happened.

Brainfill Poly cut off mark for Statistics: the figures
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official (JAMB 2026 policy meeting, reported by NAN on 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB minimum for polytechnics | Official (reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |
| 2026/2027 | 100 | Brainfill website: minimum UTME for ND | Official (school website, checked 3 November 2026) |
| Any year | None | Brainfill Poly figure for Statistics | No published figure found |
JAMB kept the polytechnic floor at 100 for two years running, and Brainfill’s own website repeats 100 as its ND minimum. A polytechnic may set a higher mark for itself or for a busy course, so treat 100 as the legal minimum and aim higher if you can.
Safe target score (my advice)
For 2027 I would aim for 115 or more in the UTME for Statistics at Brainfill Poly. That is my own target, based on how small private polytechnics in Akwa Ibom usually fill their classes; the school publishes no merit list or applicant numbers. If you land between 100 and 115 you can still apply, and your O’level grades and screening will carry more weight.
Brainfill Poly Statistics subject combination and O’level requirements
| Requirement | ND Statistics |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics and two others (JAMB brochure page did not load; see note) |
| My suggested UTME combination | English, Mathematics, Economics and Physics |
| O’level (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB) | Five credits including English Language and Mathematics, plus three from Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, Economics, Geography, Further Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Studies (Federal Poly Nekede pattern; Offa asks for at least one science) |
| Sittings | Two sittings at most under the standard NBTE rule; the school has not published its own |
| Brainfill Poly remark in the brochure | None found; the base rule applies |
| Interview or practical | None published |
The Statistics page on Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s polytechnic brochure loads empty, so I cannot quote JAMB’s exact line. Two official polytechnic sources give the pattern. Federal Polytechnic Offa asks for Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics or Commerce, Geography, Computer Studies, Government and Biology or Agricultural Science. Federal Polytechnic Nekede asks for Mathematics plus two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology or Agricultural Science and Geography.
English, Mathematics, Economics and Physics fits both versions, so that is my recommendation until you see the JAMB line during registration. Further Mathematics is on neither list, so do not use it as a UTME subject for this course.
Direct Entry and HND
ND entry is through the UTME; there is no Direct Entry route into ND1. After the ND and industrial attachment you can apply for HND Statistics, or take direct entry into a Statistics or Mathematics degree where accepted. Brainfill’s website says HND applicants need an ND of at least Lower Credit. It advertises some HND courses, but none of them appears for Brainfill in NBTE’s 2025 Directory, so confirm NBTE approval before you plan around one.
Brainfill Poly screening and how selection works
Brainfill takes applications online. Its website has an apply page and a student portal at portal.brainfillpolytechnic.edu.ng, and it links a Paystack payment page. It does not publish the form price, a screening date or the format of any test, and the banner and body text disagree on the session (2025/2026 in one place, 2026/2027 in another). Ask the admissions office these questions before you pay:
- Is ND Statistics admitting full-time students for 2027/2028, and is it listed for the school on JAMB CAPS?
- What is the current NBTE accreditation status of the course?
- How much is the form, where do I pay, and what is the closing date?
- Is there a written test, and on which subjects?
- What are the acceptance fee and first-year fees, and is there a hostel?
Worked example (illustrative)
Take Edidiong, who wants Statistics at Brainfill Poly. Edidiong scored 121 in English, Mathematics, Economics and Physics, and has English, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Geography and Biology in one NECO sitting.
- JAMB minimum: 121 is 21 above 100, so Edidiong is eligible.
- My safe target: 121 clears my 115 line for Statistics.
- UTME subjects: Economics and Physics are on both the Offa and Nekede lists, with Mathematics fixed.
- O’level: English and Mathematics are credits, and Physics, Economics and Geography cover the rest, including a science.
- School listing: before paying for anything, Edidiong checks that Brainfill Poly shows Statistics on the JAMB portal.
If the school used a 50:50 aggregate, 121 divided by 8 gives 15.12 out of 50, and 30 out of 50 at screening would bring the total to 45.12. That formula is only an illustration. Brainfill Poly has not published one, and small private polytechnics often admit every candidate who meets the rules.
How to apply for Statistics at Brainfill Poly, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME with the right subjects: use English, Mathematics, Economics and Physics, and choose Brainfill Polytechnic, Ikot Ekpene as your polytechnic. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution before screening.
- Upload your O’level result to CAPS: go to an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. CAPS cannot offer you admission without it.
- Apply to Brainfill: use the apply page on Brainfill’s website or visit the campus off Aba Road, Ikot Ekpene. Confirm the course and fee with the admissions office before you pay, and keep every receipt.
- Attend screening: take your UTME result slip, O’level result, birth certificate or age declaration, local government identification and passport photographs.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and register: get the amounts in writing from the bursary, pay only through the channel the school names, and complete medical and departmental registration.
Warning
Pay Brainfill fees only through the school’s own website, portal or bursary. Agents and WhatsApp groups selling forms or promising admission have no link to the school, and JAMB treats any admission outside CAPS as illegal.
Your chances and my advice
- If you meet the subject rules and score 100 or more, your main task is making sure Statistics appears under Brainfill on the JAMB portal when you register.
- The course has interim approval to 1 October 2027. A student who starts in 2027/2028 would still be in ND2 when that date arrives, so ask the school for its plan for full accreditation and keep a copy of any letter.
- Ikot Ekpene candidates and those from Essien Udim, Ikono, Obot Akara and Abak can live at home, which cuts the cost of a two-year ND.
- Brainfill’s website also advertises courses that NBTE does not list for the school, such as ND Accountancy, Renewable Energy and Fashion and Designing. Do not register for one of those through JAMB unless the school shows you NBTE approval.
- JAMB told polytechnics to finish 2026/2027 admissions by 31 December 2026, so current candidates should keep checking CAPS until then.
What you study in ND Statistics
ND Statistics takes two years with a SIWES placement. You learn to design surveys, collect and clean data, and analyse it with statistical methods and software. It suits students who are good at Mathematics and like working with numbers more than with machines.
| Area | Typical topics |
|---|---|
| Probability and inference | Probability theory, distributions, estimation and tests |
| Sampling and surveys | Sampling techniques, questionnaire design, fieldwork |
| Applied statistics | Economic and social statistics, demography, quality control |
| Computing | Statistical computing with spreadsheets and packages |
| Supporting courses | Mathematics, economics, business studies, communication |
Brainfill Poly has not published its own course outline, so the table follows NBTE’s usual ND pattern. Typical first jobs with the ND include data collection officer, research or survey assistant, monitoring and evaluation assistant with NGOs, records and data officer, or fieldwork with statistical agencies.
Accreditation
NBTE’s 25th Edition Directory of Accredited Programmes (2025) lists ND Statistics at Brainfill Polytechnic, Ikot Ekpene, as: Interim approval (2025), expires 1 October 2027. Brainfill describes itself on its homepage as NBTE approved. The six ND courses on the NBTE list are Business Administration, Public Administration, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and Statistics.

Sources and updates
The 2026/2027 polytechnic minimum of 100, the 31 December 2026 deadline and JAMB’s warning against admissions outside CAPS come from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria on 11 May 2026; the 2025/2026 figure is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025). Brainfill’s address, its minimum UTME of 100 for ND, the part-time rule and the advertised course list are from the Brainfill Polytechnic website (checked 3 November 2026). Programme status is from NBTE’s 25th Edition 2025 Directory of Accredited Programmes. The school’s inclusion on JAMB’s polytechnic list is from a reprint of Chapter 3 of the JAMB brochure. UTME and O’level rules are from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB polytechnic brochure; for Statistics, where that page did not load, the pattern comes from Federal Polytechnic Offa and Federal Polytechnic Nekede. Safe targets and the worked example are my own advice. Checked on 3 November 2026; this page will be updated when Brainfill publishes a 2027/2028 notice.
