Ibom Metropolitan Poly Tourism Management Technology Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

The Ibom Metropolitan Poly cut off mark for Tourism Management Technology is JAMB’s polytechnic minimum of 100; no departmental figure is published. See the safe target score, UTME subjects, O’level rules, NBTE status, screening and CAPS steps.

The Ibom Metropolitan Poly cut off mark for Tourism Management Technology is 100 in the UTME, which is JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics in 2026/2027. Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic has not published a separate cut-off for ND Tourism Management Technology, and I found no departmental figure for any year. The school’s website gives no admission details, so the JAMB floor is the figure to work with.

2027/2028 update: Ibom Metropolitan Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic is a private polytechnic founded in 2014 by Dr Victor E. U. Utong. JAMB’s list places it at Atan Offot, Uyo, and the school describes its site as behind the State Secretariat in Uyo, while NBTE’s 2025 Directory heads its entry “Oruk-Anam”. Tourism Management Technology is on JAMB’s course list for the school (as “Tourism Management Technology”), and its line in NBTE’s 2025 Directory reads: Interim approval (2024), expired 1 October 2026; renewal not confirmed.

The NBTE line matters here. Tourism Management Technology had interim approval from 2024 that expired on 1 October 2026, and I found no notice of renewal or full accreditation. The course is still on JAMB’s list for the school, but ask Ibom Metropolitan for proof of current NBTE status before you register for it.

JAMB kept the polytechnic floor at 100 for two years running, and Ibom Metropolitan has not announced a higher figure for any course. A polytechnic may set a higher mark for itself or for a busy course, so treat 100 as the legal minimum and aim higher if you can.

Safe target score (my advice)

For 2027 I would aim for 110 or more in the UTME for Tourism Management Technology at Ibom Metropolitan Poly. That is my own target, based on how small private polytechnics in Akwa Ibom usually fill their classes; the school publishes no merit list or applicant numbers. If you land between 100 and 110 you can still apply, and your O’level grades and screening will carry more weight.

Ibom Metropolitan Poly Tourism Management Technology subject combination and O’level requirements

RequirementND Tourism Management Technology
UTME subjectsUse of English and three others (JAMB brochure page for this course loaded empty; see note)
My suggested UTME combinationEnglish, Mathematics, Geography and Economics
O’level (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB)Five credits including English Language and Mathematics, plus two from Geography, Economics or Commerce, History, Marketing, Civic Education, Government, Accounting and Tourism Studies, and one from Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Food and Nutrition (Federal Polytechnic Ilaro’s Leisure and Tourism rule)
SittingsTwo sittings at most under the standard NBTE rule; the school has not published its own
Ibom Metropolitan Poly remark in the brochureNone found; the base rule applies
Interview or practicalNone published

Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s polytechnic brochure has a page for Tourism Management Technology, but the requirement sections were empty when I checked on 3 November 2026. The closely related Leisure and Tourism Management page prints Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics as its base line, then lists remarks for named polytechnics that mostly accept Mathematics, Geography and Economics instead: YABATECH takes Mathematics and any two from a long list that includes Geography and Economics, and Federal Polytechnic Ede asks for Geography and Economics.

Until you see the line for this school on JAMB’s e-brochure, I would register with English, Mathematics, Geography and Economics. That fits most of the remarks. If the e-brochure shows the science base line with no remark, switch your combination before registration closes.

Direct Entry and HND

ND entry is through the UTME; there is no Direct Entry route into ND1. After the ND and industrial attachment you can apply for HND in a tourism or hospitality option, or move into hospitality and tourism degrees where a university accepts ND holders. NBTE does not list an HND in tourism at the school.

Ibom Metropolitan Poly screening and how selection works

Ibom Metropolitan has not published a 2026/2027 screening notice, form price or test format that I could find, and its website carries no admission page. Private polytechnics of its size usually sell forms at the admissions office or on a portal, check documents, and may hold a short test or interview. Ask the office these questions:

  • Is ND Tourism Management Technology admitting full-time students for 2027/2028, and is it listed for the school on JAMB CAPS?
  • What is the current NBTE accreditation status of the course?
  • How much is the form, where do I pay, and what is the closing date?
  • Is there a written test, and on which subjects?
  • What are the acceptance fee and first-year fees, and is there a hostel?

Worked example (illustrative)

Take Aniebiet, who wants Tourism Management Technology at Ibom Metropolitan Poly. Aniebiet scored 112 in English, Mathematics, Geography and Economics, and has English, Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Biology and Government in one WAEC sitting.

  1. JAMB minimum: 112 is 12 above 100, so Aniebiet is eligible.
  2. My safe target: 112 clears my 110 line for Tourism Management Technology.
  3. UTME subjects: Mathematics, Geography and Economics fit most remarks on the related Leisure and Tourism page. He should still confirm the line on the e-brochure.
  4. O’level: English and Mathematics are credits, Geography and Economics are the two social subjects, and Biology is the science.
  5. School listing: before paying for anything, Aniebiet checks that Ibom Metropolitan Poly shows Tourism Management Technology on the JAMB portal.

If the school used a 50:50 aggregate, 112 divided by 8 gives 14 out of 50, and 30 out of 50 at screening would bring the total to 44. That formula is only an illustration. Ibom Metropolitan Poly has not published one, and small private polytechnics often admit every candidate who meets the rules.

How to apply for Tourism Management Technology at Ibom Metropolitan Poly, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME with the right subjects: use English, Mathematics, Geography and Economics, and choose Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic, Atan Offot as your polytechnic. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution before screening.
  3. Upload your O’level result to CAPS: go to an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. CAPS cannot offer you admission without it.
  4. Contact the school: visit Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic in Uyo or use the contacts on its website, confirm the course is admitting, and buy the form only from the school. Keep every receipt.
  5. Attend screening: take your UTME result slip, O’level result, birth certificate or age declaration, local government identification and passport photographs.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay acceptance and register: get the amounts in writing from the bursary, pay only through the channel the school names, and complete medical and departmental registration.

Warning

Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic is a different school from Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua. Check the name on your JAMB registration, buy forms only from the school, and remember that JAMB treats any admission outside CAPS as illegal.

Your chances and my advice

  • You can pick Tourism Management Technology under Ibom Metropolitan when you register, which removes the biggest risk with small private polytechnics.
  • Get the NBTE position in writing before you pay acceptance; the 2025 Directory line for this course does not show current full accreditation.
  • The school advertises a City and Guilds affiliation under the slogan “One Polytechnic, Two Qualifications”. Ask what the extra certificate costs and whether it is optional.
  • Living in Uyo costs more than in smaller towns, so price rent and transport into your plan if you are not from the city.
  • JAMB told polytechnics to finish 2026/2027 admissions by 31 December 2026, so current candidates should keep checking CAPS until then.

What you study in ND Tourism Management Technology

ND Tourism Management Technology takes two years with a SIWES placement. You learn how travel, tours, attractions and events are planned, sold and run. Akwa Ibom has the Ibeno beach and a good number of hotels around Uyo and Eket, which helps when you look for a placement.

Accreditation

NBTE’s 25th Edition Directory of Accredited Programmes (2025) lists ND Tourism Management Technology at Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic as: Interim approval (2024), expired 1 October 2026; renewal not confirmed. The school says on its website that it received NBTE accreditation in 2021 and held its first matriculation on 22 April 2022. NBTE does not list an HND in tourism at the school.
