UNIUYO Geography and Natural Resources Management Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028

UNIUYO asks for at least 150 in the UTME for Geography and Natural Resources Management, with UNIUYO first choice. See the target score, subjects and screening steps.

The UNIUYO Geography and Natural Resources Management cut off mark for 2027 planning starts at 150 in the UTME. That is the only minimum the University of Uyo published for its 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening, and it applied to every course, Geography and Natural Resources Management included, for candidates who chose UNIUYO as their first choice. UNIUYO did not publish a separate departmental cut-off for Geography and Natural Resources Management.

2027/2028 update: UNIUYO cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Geography and Natural Resources Management is the new name in UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 advert for the course JAMB’s list still calls Geography and Regional Planning. It sits in the Faculty of Social Sciences. Below are the official figures, my safe target, the subjects, the screening steps and the NUC result.

UNIUYO Geography and Natural Resources Management cut-off history

2023/2024 supplementary140 and aboveFor screening registrants not admitted into their first-choice courseOfficial UNIUYO notice signed by the Registrar

Geography and Natural Resources Management was one of the courses with vacancies in UNIUYO’s 2023/2024 supplementary admission (listed as “Geography and Regional Planning”), which invited screening candidates with 140 and above who had missed their first-choice course. That tells you the course did not fill completely from first-choice applicants that year. It was the only Social Sciences course on that list.

Some blogs print a list of UNIUYO departmental cut-offs with a number for each course. None of those lists points to a UNIUYO document, so I don’t use them here and I wouldn’t plan around them.

Why 150 is not the score that gets you admitted

UNIUYO does not publish a closing score for this course. It was the only Social Sciences programme with spare places in the 2023/2024 supplementary round, so it has been easier to enter than Economics, Psychology or Political Science. Places still go on merit, so do not plan on 150.

JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities to finish admissions; that date has now passed, and UNIUYO is a federal university. Late or supplementary offers can still show up on JAMB CAPS after a main list, so 2026 candidates should keep checking CAPS. For everyone else, the planning is for the 2027 UTME and the 2027/2028 session.

Safe target score for Geography and Natural Resources Management at UNIUYO (my advice)

This is my judgement as an admissions adviser, built on the 150 minimum, how Geography and Natural Resources Management usually compares with other UNIUYO courses, and what supplementary notices have shown. It is not a UNIUYO rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for UNIUYO Geography and Natural Resources Management
Below 150Not eligible. UNIUYO only screened candidates with 150 or more.
150 to 179Eligible and possible, depending on O’level grades and how many candidates apply that year.
180 to 199Competitive. This is my safe target score.
200 and aboveStrong. You should be in a good position if your O’level and subjects are right.

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 180, with credits in English, Mathematics and Geography.

UTME subject combination and O’level for UNIUYO Geography and Natural Resources Management

RequirementGeography and Natural Resources Management at UNIUYO
UTME subjectsUse of English, Geography and any arts or social science subjects (JAMB brochure, general rule)
O’levelFive credits including English Language, Mathematics and Geography
UNIUYO remarkOnly for Direct Entry: UNIUYO accepts ND/NCE/HND in relevant programmes plus the UTME requirements
JAMB course nameGeography and Regional Planning (older name); check on your JAMB form
Direct EntryTwo A level passes including Geography

Geography is the fixed UTME subject. Economics and Government make a good pair with it and keep Economics and Political Science open. Science students can also take Geography with Mathematics and Biology or Chemistry, which suits the natural resources side of the course; check that the UNIUYO line on the e-brochure accepts your set.

At O’level, credits in English, Mathematics and Geography are required.

Direct Entry into Geography and Natural Resources Management

Direct Entry needs two A level passes including Geography. UNIUYO’s remark in Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure accepts an ND, NCE or HND in a relevant programme with the UTME-level O’level requirements, which helps NCE holders in Geography.

How UNIUYO screening works

UNIUYO runs one Post-UTME/Direct Entry screening exercise for all courses. Here is what the 2026/2027 exercise looked like.

DetailUNIUYO 2026/2027

Fee₦2,000 through a Remita RRR (amount from reprints; the official page shows only the Remita method)

Test formatNot published in the notice, which says only “screening exercise”
Aggregate formulaNot published
Closing dateFriday 7 August 2026 according to abstechconnect; not on the official page

Because UNIUYO has not said whether the regular screening includes a written test, prepare as if there is one. Revise your four UTME subjects and keep your O’level result, UTME result slip and any other document the portal asks for ready as clear PDFs. The guidelines page on eportals.uniuyo.edu.ng is the place to check once the 2027/2028 form opens.

Worked example for a Geography and Natural Resources Management candidate

UNIUYO has no published aggregate formula, so the useful calculation is the gap between your UTME score, the 150 minimum and the safe target. The figures below are illustrations, not UNIUYO results.

Take Itoro, who scored 187 with B3 in English, C4 in Mathematics, B2 in Geography, C5 in Economics and B3 in Government.

  1. Eligibility: 187 minus 150 = 37. Itoro clears UNIUYO’s minimum by 37 marks.
  2. Against my safe target: 187 minus 180 = 7. Itoro is 7 marks above the score I treat as competitive.
  3. O’level check: credits in English, Mathematics and Geography plus two more.
  4. What I would advise: choose the course as a first preference and register for screening early.

Godswill scored 156. 156 minus 150 = 6, so he can register for screening. He is 24 marks under my target. This course has had supplementary places before, so his chances are fair.

How to apply for Geography and Natural Resources Management at UNIUYO, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register for the UTME: choose Geography and Natural Resources Management with English, Geography, Economics and Government, and make UNIUYO your first choice.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as your results are out. UNIUYO cannot offer you admission on CAPS without it.
  4. Create your screening account: go to admissions.uniuyo.edu.ng when the Post-UTME notice is out, create an account and verify your email.
  5. Pay the fee: generate a Remita RRR on the portal and pay (₦2,000 in 2026/2027, per reprints).
  6. Complete the form and print your slip: fill the application form, upload your documents in PDF and print the Screening Exercise Slip.
  7. Accept on CAPS: when an offer appears, log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay acceptance and clear: UNIUYO has not published its acceptance fee in the official pages I reached, so confirm the amount on the UNIUYO portal before you pay anything.

Warning

UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 screening notice was open only to candidates who chose UNIUYO as first choice. If UNIUYO is your second choice, do a JAMB change of institution before the screening form opens, or you may not be able to register at all. Pay only through the Remita RRR generated on the UNIUYO portal.

If you need to fix your choice of school or course, read our guides to JAMB change of institution and JAMB change of course.

Other ways into Geography and Natural Resources Management at UNIUYO

UNIUYO’s May 2026 advert, signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Blossom E. Okorie, describes two one-year programmes that feed into degree courses. The Pre-Degree programme is only for science, agriculture and education courses, so Basic Studies is the one that applies here.

  • Basic Studies: open to all faculties. You need five credits including English and Mathematics plus three relevant subjects, at not more than two sittings. Admission is usually through a CBT screening test, and no JAMB score is required. Successful students can move into 200 level through JAMB Direct Entry if they meet the course rules. The form cost ₦15,500 (the advert prints it as “N15,5000”).

For 2026/2027, Basic Studies registration closed on 30 September 2026 and the screening test was set for 27 October to 7 November 2026. Expect similar timing in 2027, but wait for the new advert.

Studying Geography and Natural Resources Management at UNIUYO

Geography and Natural Resources Management is in the Faculty of Social Sciences. A B.Sc. in Geography normally takes four years in Nigeria; UNIUYO did not confirm the duration or the new degree title in the pages I reached.

Accreditation

NUC’s accreditation report gives University of Uyo Geography Full accreditation with a score of 86.40%, after a visit on 8 December 2024. NUC uses the plain name “Geography”, so I take it to be this department under its earlier name; confirm with the department. Geography Education, a separate programme, had interim accreditation.

Mistakes that cost Geography and Natural Resources Management applicants a UNIUYO place

  • Looking for the new name on JAMB: JAMB’s list still shows Geography and Regional Planning.
  • No Geography in the UTME: it is the one fixed subject.
  • Treating 150 as an admission score: it is only the minimum to register for screening.
  • Making UNIUYO your second choice: the 2026/2027 notice screened 1st-choice candidates only.
  • No O’level on CAPS: an offer cannot be completed without it.
  • Ignoring the supplementary exercise: UNIUYO has run one in past sessions for candidates who missed their first-choice course.

If you are writing the UTME again, see when JAMB 2027 registration starts and how to check your JAMB result and use the score.

UNIUYO Geography and Natural Resources Management cut off mark: frequently asked questions

The 150 minimum, the 1st-choice rule, the Remita payment and the portal steps come from UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 Post-UTME/Direct Entry screening notice on uniuyo.edu.ng (the page carries a reused 2023/2024 web address). Myschool’s reprint of 5 June 2026 also gives 150 and the ₦2,000 fee. The 2023/2024 figure of 140 is from UNIUYO’s 2023/2024 supplementary admission notice, signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Blossom E. The Basic Studies and Pre-Degree details are from UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 Basic Studies and Pre-Degree advert (May 2026). The national minimum of 150 and the 31 October 2026 deadline for public universities come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). The accreditation result is from NUC’s accreditation report for University of Uyo Geography (Full, 86.40%, visit 8 December 2024). The safe target score is my own advice.
