Who can apply for the Prince Ukeme Ukpong Scholarship
The foundation sets three conditions, and you need to meet all three.
- Akwa Ibom origin: you must be a Nigerian citizen whose state of origin is Akwa Ibom. Living in Uyo or Eket is not enough if your state of origin is elsewhere, and an Akwa Ibom indigene living in Lagos or Abuja still qualifies.
- Current full-time student: you must be enrolled full time as an undergraduate, an ND or HND student, or a Registered Nurse (RN) student. Your school must be one listed by the NUC (universities), NBTE (polytechnics), NCCE (colleges of education) or NMCN (schools of nursing).
- Financial need: you must be able to show that paying for school is a real struggle for you or your family.
There is no course restriction and no fixed level. A 100 level student and a final year student can both apply, as long as they are already enrolled. If you are still waiting for admission, this round is not for you; the form asks for a student already in school.
Which schools count
| Type of student | Regulator your school must be listed with |
|---|---|
| University undergraduate | National Universities Commission (NUC) |
| ND or HND student | National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) |
| College of education student | National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) |
| RN nursing student | Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) |
Your school can be in any state, since the rule is about your origin, not where you study. If you are unsure whether your school is accredited, check the regulator’s list before you apply.
What the Prince Ukeme Ukpong Scholarship covers
The foundation calls the award “education support”, and it has not published a naira amount per student for 2026. The most detailed description of this call puts it as support for up to two years, with tuition included. Winners receive the award in person at the 2026 edition of “Learn, Excel & Empower with Prince Ukeme Ukpong”, the foundation’s yearly event held in Obot Akara Local Government Area.
The scheme has run in earlier years. In early October 2026 the foundation announced an ₦18 million package of scholarships and business grants for the 2026 edition, and said its earlier rounds had funded 147 tertiary scholarships, 74 school fee payments and 360 educational bursaries.
| Support the foundation reports giving so far | Number |
|---|---|
| Tertiary scholarships | 147 |
| School fee payments | 74 |
| Educational bursaries | 360 |
| Business grants | 119 |
| Persons with disabilities supported | 23 |
| 2026 commitment (scholarships and grants) | ₦18 million |
How to apply for the Prince Ukeme Ukpong Scholarship 2026
The whole application is one Google Form, and it is the only place to apply.
- Get your details ready: your school, course, level, matric or registration number, and your local government area in Akwa Ibom.
- Draft your answers offline: type the written answers in your notes app first, so a network drop does not wipe them.
- Open the form: go to the Prince Ukeme Ukpong Education Support 2026 application form.
- Fill every field: the foundation asks that the form be completed in full, in your own words.
- Submit before the deadline: the form closes on 4 November 2026 at 11:59 pm. Take a screenshot of the confirmation page.
- Keep your phone and email active: use contact details you check daily, and send any questions to princeukemeukpongmf@gmail.com.
How winners are chosen
The foundation looks at three things: how badly you need the money, how committed you are to your studies, and whether you give back to your community. Meeting the eligibility rules does not guarantee you a place.
The foundation also says original, personal answers are valued, and that generic or AI-written answers score lowest. I would take that seriously and write every answer yourself, even if your English is simple.
Tips for your written answers
- Say who pays your fees now, roughly what they earn, and what happened that made school hard to afford. Plain detail persuades more than dramatic language.
- Mention your current CGPA or class standing if it is good, and explain briefly if it dropped because of money problems.
- Name one or two things you have done for others: tutoring younger students, church or youth work, volunteering in your community.
- Write the way you talk. Short, honest sentences read better than borrowed big words.
- Check that your name and matric number match your school records exactly.
Our scholarship recommendation letter guide is also useful if the foundation asks shortlisted students for a reference later. If you are not from Akwa Ibom, look at other community awards we cover, such as the Wole Ogunyemi Foundation undergraduate scholarship.

Filling the Prince Ukeme Ukpong Scholarship form step by step
Google Forms are simple, but students still lose applications to small things like a timed-out session or a wrong email. Here is the order I would follow on the day you apply.
- Sign in to one Google account first: some forms ask you to sign in before you can submit. Use the Gmail account you check every day, because any reply from the foundation will likely come to the email you enter.
- Read the opening text of the form: it is the organiser’s own statement of the terms, and it overrides anything written on listing sites, including this one.
- Enter your personal details exactly as your school has them: the same spelling of your names and the same matric or registration number on your ID card or school portal.
- Give your Akwa Ibom details: state of origin, your local government area and, if asked, your town or village. Keep this consistent with your local government certificate of origin in case you are asked for it later.
- Fill your school section: institution, course, level and type of programme (degree, ND/HND or RN). Double-check the level, since a mistake here can make your application look ineligible.
- Paste in your prepared written answers: copy them from your notes app, then read each one again inside the form to make sure nothing was cut off by a word or character limit.
- Review, then submit once: Google Forms usually lets you see your answers before the final click. Submit one application only; repeated entries make your name harder to process.
The listings do not say the form asks for uploads at this stage. Even so, keep these on your phone in case shortlisted students are contacted: your school ID card, your latest fee invoice or receipt, your admission letter, your most recent result slip and a local government certificate of origin.
How to write your Prince Ukeme Ukpong Scholarship answers
The foundation has told applicants what it values: real financial need, commitment to your studies and service to your community. It has also said that generic or AI-written answers score lowest. So your written answers should do three jobs in plain words: show your situation, show you are serious about school and show you already help other people.
A simple structure that works
- Your situation in two or three sentences: who pays your fees, what changed, and what it costs you each session.
- What you have done about it: part-time work, selling something, borrowing, deferring a semester. This shows you are not only waiting for help.
- Your studies: your course, your current CGPA or result, and what you want to do with the course.
- Your community: one specific thing you do for others, with a number if you can give one (how many children you tutor, how often).
- What the award would change: one or two sentences, concrete and modest.
A sample opening
Use this only to see the tone, then write your own:
“I am a 300 level Nursing student from Ikot Abasi Local Government Area. My mother sells fish at the market and has paid my fees alone since my father died in 2024. Last session I sat my exams only after my lecturer agreed to let me pay the balance in two parts. I still finished with a CGPA of 3.9, and on Saturdays I teach basic English to eight primary school children in my street.”
Notice what it does: a named place, a named person, a date, a number and a real action. That kind of detail is what selectors remember, and it is very hard to fake with a chatbot.
Eligibility edge cases
- Born and raised outside Akwa Ibom: you can still apply if your state of origin is Akwa Ibom. The rule is origin, not where you grew up.
- Mixed parentage: the foundation has not said how it treats a student whose mother is from Akwa Ibom but whose official state of origin is elsewhere. Ask by email before you apply rather than guessing.
- Part-time, sandwich or distance learning: the call asks for full-time students, so these do not fit as written.
- Freshers who just got admission: if you have accepted admission and are registered as a student, you are enrolled. If you are still waiting on admission, you are not.
- Postgraduate students: the call names undergraduate, ND/HND and RN students only. Master’s and PhD students are not included.
- Students already on another scholarship: the listings do not mention a rule against this. State it honestly in your answers if asked, since need is the main test.
Common mistakes that cost applicants
- Writing answers straight into the form on mobile data and losing everything when the page reloads.
- Copying an answer from a friend or a website. Selectors read many forms from the same area, and repeated wording is easy to spot.
- Describing need in general terms (“my parents are poor”) without one real detail.
- Giving a phone number that is often switched off, or an email you rarely open.
- Waiting for the last evening. Network trouble near a deadline is common, and the form closes at 11:59 pm sharp.
- Paying anyone who promises to “push” your name. The foundation does not charge a fee.
What happens after you apply
The foundation has not published a detailed timeline after the 4 November close. Based on what it has announced, expect it to review the forms, contact the students it selects through the phone number or email they gave, and present the awards at the 2026 “Learn, Excel & Empower” event in Obot Akara. Whether there is an interview or document check before the event has not been stated. If you are contacted, reply quickly and keep your documents ready.
If you do not hear anything, the foundation has not said it will notify unsuccessful applicants. Keep your answers saved; this scheme has run before, and a stronger application next year starts from what you wrote this time.
Costs the award may not cover
The award is described as education support with tuition included. The listings do not say it pays for anything else, so plan for these yourself unless the foundation tells you otherwise:
- Hostel or rent, and feeding
- Departmental and faculty dues, textbooks and handouts
- Clinical posting, practical or field trip costs (common for nursing students)
- Transport to the award event in Obot Akara, if you are invited
Similar community scholarships to compare
If you also qualify for one of these, apply to both. Each is tied to where you come from or live.
| Scholarship | Who it is for | Award |
|---|---|---|
| Prince Ukeme Ukpong Scholarship | Akwa Ibom indigenes in tertiary school | Education support with tuition, up to two years |
| Taiwo Bankole Scholarship | Ajegunle residents aged 17 to 25 in STEM or Law | Paradigm Initiative award for 10 students |
| Osun Indigenes Scholarship | Full-time Osun State students in financial need | ₦100,000 paid to your school |
| Ibadan Descendants Union Scholarship | Ibadan indigenes in Nigerian higher institutions | Full tuition |
| Gbemiga Abiodun Foundation Scholarship | Ogun State students | ₦50,000 to ₦250,000 plus learning materials |
Who should apply, and who shouldn’t
Apply if you are an Akwa Ibom indigene in full-time tertiary education anywhere in Nigeria and you are genuinely struggling with fees. That is the student this award was built for, whatever your course or level.
Skip it if your state of origin is not Akwa Ibom, if you are not yet admitted, if you are a postgraduate student, or if your family can pay your fees without real strain. A place given to a student who did not need it is a place taken from one who did, and the foundation says need is its first test.
