Federal University Dutse has opened sales of the FUD IJMB admission form 2026/2027 for 20266/2027 academic session through its Consultancy Services Directorate. The portal opens on 16 July 2026 and closes on 15 September 2026. You need at least five O’Level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics, from no more than two sittings, and the application fee is 5,000 naira, non-refundable. The form runs to seven sections, must be completed in order, and can be saved and resumed.
You have a two month window, which sounds generous until you remember that most people treat a two month window as a September problem. Below: the entry requirements, why payment is what makes the application real, the seven sections, and the parts of the IJMB route that the admission notice skips entirely. Those last ones decide whether the year actually gets you into university.

What the IJMB programme actually is
IJMB stands for Interim Joint Matriculation Board. It is an Advanced Level programme, coordinated nationally by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and run at approved study centres like the one at Federal University Dutse.
The point of it is direct entry. You spend roughly an academic year studying three subjects at A-Level standard, sit the IJMB examination, and use the result to enter university. The reason people choose it over another UTME attempt is the destination: a successful IJMB candidate is admitted into 200 level rather than 100 level, which means you skip a year of the degree.
Plenty of candidates sign up for IJMB thinking of it as a consolation prize for missing UTME, and then carry that attitude into the year, which is a waste. Think of it as a trade instead. You give up a year and some money now, you get the year back at the other end by entering at 200 level, and you reach competitive courses through a door that does not swing on your UTME score.
The notice for this intake does not list UTME as a requirement for the IJMB pathway. That is accurate as far as it goes, and it is also the point where candidates get themselves into trouble, so see the section on JAMB Direct Entry below before you assume you are finished with JAMB forever.

“Three other relevant subjects” is the phrase that carries weight. Relevant means relevant to the course you eventually want to read, so a candidate aiming at medicine and a candidate aiming at accounting are not looking at the same three subjects. Work backwards from the degree you want, check the O’Level requirements that degree carries, and make sure your five credits cover them.
The sitting rule is the one that quietly ends applications. Five credits from one sitting is fine, and five credits assembled across two sittings is fine, whether the two results come from the same examination body or different ones. Five credits that only add up across three results do not meet the stated requirement, no matter how strong the grades are.
If you are in that third position, call the college on the numbers at the bottom of this page and ask before you pay. The fee is non-refundable, and finding out afterwards is an expensive way to learn the rule.
FUD IJMB application dates
The portal opens on 16 July 2026 and closes on 15 September 2026. That is a two month window, and the notice does not mention any extension.
Two dates worth putting in your phone: one in the last week of July, as a reminder to start, and one around the end of August, as a hard deadline for yourself. The second date matters because the form has seven sections and a payment step, and payment steps in Nigeria have a way of failing on a Friday evening in the last week of a window.
The application fee
The fee is 5,000 naira and you do not get it back. Payment is made online through the portal with a debit card or whichever other option the portal offers you.
Treat the payment as the application. That is what the notice is saying when it states that payment validates the form: a carefully completed, seven-section, fully accurate application with no payment attached is a rejected application. People fall into this by planning to pay later, and later turns into the closing day, and the closing day turns into a card that will not go through. So pay at the payment step, while you are sitting there.
How to apply on the FUD IJMB portal
Everything happens on the FUD Consultancy Services application portal.
- Open the FUD IJMB Portal
- Select the IJMB application link.
- Create an account with a valid email address you can actually access. This becomes your login, so use one you check, not one you made up years ago for a form.
- Sign in with that email address and your password.
- Work through the seven sections of the form in order. Each section must be completed before the next one unlocks.
- Pay the 5,000 naira fee through one of the online payment options.
- Complete the remaining sections and submit before 15 September 2026.
You can save your progress and come back. The unfinished form still has to be completed and submitted before the closing date, and you will need your registered email address and password to sign back in, so write both down somewhere that is not a browser you might clear.
Chrome or Safari are the recommended browsers, and I would take that seriously rather than skim past it. Nigerian institutional portals tend to be built and tested against a narrow set of browsers. When a form refuses to submit, the culprit is usually the browser rather than the portal being down.
What the notice does not tell you
The published notice covers the programme, the entry requirements, the sitting rule, the dates, the fee, the seven-section structure and the support lines. It says nothing about the tuition for the programme itself, which is separate from the 5,000 naira application fee. It says nothing about the subject combinations offered at the Dutse centre, the resumption date, the examination timetable, or the points a given course will require from you afterwards.
Ask the Directorate directly using the contact details at the end of this page. Anyone quoting you a tuition figure or a cut-off point without a source is guessing, and admissions season attracts a particular type of person who will happily take money to “arrange” something they cannot deliver.
IJMB points and JAMB Direct Entry
Two things decide whether the IJMB year works for you, and the admission notice mentions neither.
The first is points. IJMB results are scored in points across your three subjects, and each university sets its own entry points for each course. Competitive courses ask for high ones. So passing IJMB and getting into medicine are separate achievements, and candidates who only aim at the first are often surprised by the second. Find out what your target university wants for your target course before you settle on a subject combination. That number, not a vague pass, is what you are studying towards for the next year.
The second is JAMB, which people assume they have escaped. An IJMB result by itself admits you nowhere. To take up a Direct Entry place you generally have to register for JAMB Direct Entry as well, and select your institution and course through it. When the notice says UTME is not required, it is telling you something about UTME. It is not telling you that JAMB is behind you.
Both of these are worth confirming with the Consultancy Services Directorate and against JAMB’s current requirements before you plan around them. Ask in July, while the answer can still change what you do, rather than next year when the Direct Entry window is closing on you.
Mistakes that cost candidates their place
Most of the applications that fail were never going to fail on merit. They fail on housekeeping.
The unpaid form is the classic. Everything filled in, nothing paid, application dead.
Close behind it is the email address nobody can open. Remember it doubles as your login and as the only way the Directorate reaches you, so an address you have lost access to is an application you cannot finish and news you will never receive.
Then there are the candidates on a third sitting. If you have been picking up credits one examination at a time across several years, it feels like persistence. Against a two-sitting rule, it reads as ineligibility, and no amount of good grades in that third result changes the arithmetic.
The last-week rush deserves its own mention because it multiplies everything above. Seven sequential sections, a card payment and an untested browser, all on 14 September, is a plan that needs every single component to behave. They rarely all behave.

Is FUD IJMB worth it?

What separates the candidates it works for from the ones it does not is homework almost nobody does before they enrol: the points their target course actually wants, and how the Direct Entry step is going to work when they get there. Ask the Directorate about the tuition too, while you are on the phone, since the 5,000 naira you are about to spend is only the form.
