Esade scholarships for 2027 entry are mostly partial tuition awards. MSc applicants can get an Excellence Award worth 10% to 50% of tuition (the average last intake was 26%), and a need-based Fundació Esade scholarship can reach 75% to 85%. Bachelor’s applicants can get a merit award of 25% to 100% and a need-based Talent Scholarship of 60% to 100%, plus housing and living grants. Every scheme is open to international students.

Below are the fees, each award, the 2027 deadlines, the English scores, the documents and the Spanish visa money an international applicant needs, all checked on esade.edu on 24 October 2026.

Esade tuition fees the scholarships reduce

| Bachelor’s single degree (BBA, Law, Business and AI, Global Governance, Transformational Leadership) | €21,300 | First academic year |

Bachelor’s students reserve their place with a 25% deposit (about €5,325 for a single degree) by the date in the offer letter, then pay the remaining 75% by the deadline in the payment instructions. The deposit is refunded only if you fail your final school year or the university entrance exam. The bachelor’s fee page shows only the first-year fee, so ask admissions for the later years before you budget. The application fee is €150 and is not refunded.

Talent and Need Scholarship “Future Vision” (75% to 85%)
This is the biggest MSc award, and most listing sites skip it. Fundació Esade’s 2026-2027 call for the full-time MBA and the MSc programmes in Management offered 75% to 85% of tuition, with no nationality limit. You need confirmed admission, documented financial need, academic or professional merit and a GMAT or Esade Admission Test score above average, and you may be interviewed. Total aid in a year cannot pass 85% of tuition.
The 2026 call had rounds closing on 20 January, 17 March and 21 April, with an extra round in May if money remained. Going by those dates, the 2027 rounds close on 20 January, 17 March and 21 April 2027. The form asks for a financing plan that includes a “Plan B” showing how you would pay if refused, so prepare real figures.
Other MSc funding
- Fundació Princesa de Girona: up to 50% of tuition, for Spanish citizens and residents only.
- Colfuturo: up to 15% of tuition for selected Colombian candidates, plus loans for those returning to Colombia.
- Income Share Agreement backed by the European Investment Fund: you repay from future earnings, and you can combine it with an award.
- Partner loans, mostly tied to nationality or residence: Sallie Mae (US), ICICI Bank and WeMakeScholars (India), Spark Finance (Australia and New Zealand), Deutsche Bank (EU residents), and BBVA, Sabadell and IMAGIN (Spain).
Esade scholarships for bachelor’s students
Undergraduates can hold a merit award from the admissions office and need-based aid from Fundació Esade at the same time, as long as the total stays at or below 100% of the year’s tuition.
Academic Merit Awards (no income test)
| Award | Value | Duration and renewal |
|---|---|---|
| Distinction Award | 25% to 100% of tuition | One academic year, not renewable |
| Excellence Award | 25% to 100% of tuition | One year up to the whole degree; renewal needs every subject passed and a top 40% class rank or an 8/10 average |
| Best University Access Grade Award | 100% for the whole degree | Spanish Bachillerato students with an access grade of 9.5/10 or more |
Esade publishes the grades past winners typically had. Meeting them does not guarantee an award:
| School system | Typical grade of past award holders |
|---|---|
| International Baccalaureate | 39/42 (predicted) |
| UK A-levels | A*AA or AAA |
| US High School Diploma | GPA 3.6 or 92/100 |
| French Baccalauréat | 17/20 |
| German Abitur | 1.6 |
| Italian Maturità | 90/100 |
| Any other system | About 90% of the maximum grade |
You request one award in the Candidate Portal after you are admitted. Esade gives awards on a rolling basis until the money runs out and publishes no closing date, so a student admitted in November has a better chance than one admitted in May.
Fundació Esade need-based scholarships and grants
The 2026-2027 regulations set these rules for new bachelor’s students:
- Talent Scholarship of 60% to 100% of tuition, Lodging Grant of 50% to 100% of residence costs for 10 months, and Living Grant of up to €450 a month for 10 months.
- A grade average of at least 8.5/10 (or the equivalent) over the two years before university, plus admission test or SAT results.
- Family gross income generally no higher than €118,000 a year for a family of four. Between €75,000 and €118,000, total tuition aid is capped at 95%.
- You reapply every year and need a 7.5 average with no failed credits to keep it.
- Financial documents must be in Spanish, Catalan or English, with certified translations of anything else; other languages can get the file annulled.
The 2026-2027 call ran eight committees with document deadlines from 17 November 2025 to 16 June 2026. For 2027-2028 the first deadline is 17 November 2026, one year after the first 2026-2027 deadline, so gather your parents’ tax returns, employer income letters and six months of bank statements now.
Esade PhD funding
Doctoral candidates start with a Master of Research (MRes) year. Students who complete it and register for the PhD in Management Sciences get guaranteed full tuition and a monthly stipend for three years, as long as they meet the programme’s academic requirements. Esade also pays for conference trips and research stays abroad, and candidates can earn extra through teaching or research assistant work. Esade does not publish the stipend amount on its page, and the call shown when I checked was still the 2026 one, so watch the research programmes page for the 2027 call.

Admission requirements for international applicants
MSc
- A bachelor’s degree that allows postgraduate study in the country that awarded it. Final-year students apply with a partial transcript.
- GMAT, GRE or the Esade Admission Test, which is included in the application fee. Recent averages were about 615 on the current GMAT, 660 on the previous edition, and about 160/162 on the GRE.
- No work experience needed. Esade points people with more than two years of experience to the MBA.
- A compulsory interview for shortlisted applicants, in Barcelona, at an event or online.
Bachelor’s
- The Esade Admissions Test, or the SAT (code 7073; average 1350, minimum 1200) or ACT (code 6922; average 30, minimum 24).
- Reference grades include IB predicted 32/42, A-levels from AAB, a US unweighted GPA of 3.3/4 and the German Abitur 10.5/15. Other systems are listed on Esade’s page.
- The English-taught BBA needs no Spanish. The Bilingual BBA asks for DELE C1 and the Bachelor in Law for DELE C2.
English test scores
| Test | Bachelor’s (English-taught degrees) | MSc |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | 7.0 (6.0 in each part) | 7.0 |
| TOEFL iBT | 100 (20 in each part); new scale 5.0 | 100; new scale 5.0 (4.5 in each section) |
| PTE Academic | 76 (50 in each part) | 68 |
| Duolingo English Test | 160 | 130 |
| Cambridge | C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency, 190 | CAE grade B+ or CPE grade C+ |
The Bilingual BBA and the Bachelor in Law accept lower scores, such as IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 70. MSc applicants are exempt if they are native speakers or if their bachelor’s was taught in English for at least three years (120 ECTS), proven by a university certificate stating the language of instruction. That exemption does not apply to the CEMS MIM. Bachelor’s applicants may be exempt after two and a half years of English-medium schooling in a listed English-speaking country or with qualifying IB or A-level English results, and the admissions committee has the final say.

How to apply for Esade scholarships
- Apply online: submit the application on esade.edu and pay the €150 fee. An MSc file is incomplete until you pay and e-sign it.
- Pick your MSc award: choose one Excellence Award and request financial aid in the same application.
- Take the test: sit the Esade test, SAT/ACT, GMAT or GRE and send official scores with Esade’s codes.
- Upload documents and interview: complete your file in the candidate portal and attend the interview if invited.
- Request a bachelor’s merit award: once admitted, apply for one Academic Merit Award in the Candidate Portal.
- File for need-based aid: send the Fundació Esade application and family financial documents by the next committee deadline.
- Pay and apply for the visa: wait for written decisions before paying the deposit, then apply for your Spanish student visa at least 60 days before the programme starts.
Getting your school certificate recognised in Spain (bachelor’s)
Spain only lets you enrol if your secondary certificate is recognised. Students from EU systems, IB, European Baccalaureate, Switzerland, Norway, China and countries with agreements with Spain use the UNEDasiss credential. Everyone else, for example holders of WAEC, KCSE, CBSE or US diplomas, applies for homologation with Spain’s education ministry, which takes about four months. You cannot enrol without the receipt showing you applied, so start as soon as your final results arrive.
Proof of funds for the Spanish student visa
Non-EU students need a Spanish student visa, and a scholarship letter counts toward the money you must show. Consulates base the amount on Spain’s IPREM index, which is €600 a month in 2026. At 100% of IPREM that is €6,000 for a 10-month course or €7,200 for 12 months. Use the figure on your own consulate’s page, because some still show older numbers. Consulates also ask for private health insurance with no co-payment and, for stays over six months, a medical certificate and a legalised police certificate.
Barcelona rent alone runs well above €600 a month, so budget higher than the visa minimum. MSc award holders get no living support from Esade.
Is Esade realistic without a full scholarship?
For most international MSc applicants, the merit award will be around a quarter of tuition. On a €39,000 MSc that still leaves about €29,000, plus living costs. The best shot at a large cut is the 75% to 85% need-based scholarship, which needs a strong GMAT and documented need. Bachelor’s applicants with top grades and limited family income can in theory get full tuition, housing and a monthly grant, but the committee can also award nothing. If you need guaranteed living money, apply to Esade alongside fully funded options such as those in our Sapienza University scholarships guide, or compare cheaper fees in our Leiden University Excellence Scholarship guide.
FAQ on Esade scholarships
Does Esade offer full scholarships to international students?
At bachelor’s level, yes: Excellence Awards and Talent Scholarships can reach 100% of tuition and are open to all nationalities. MSc aid stops at 85% of tuition, and PhD students who pass the MRes year get full tuition plus a stipend.
Do I need a separate application for an Esade scholarship?
For MSc merit awards you choose the award inside your admission application. Bachelor’s merit awards are requested in the Candidate Portal after admission, and need-based aid always needs a separate Fundació Esade application with financial documents.
Can I get into Esade without IELTS?
MSc applicants can if their bachelor’s was taught in English for at least three years and the university confirms it in writing. Bachelor’s applicants can rely on the Esade Admissions Test, which also assesses English, or one of the listed exemptions, subject to the committee’s decision.
What is the Esade application fee?
€150, and it is not refunded. For the MSc it also covers the Esade Admission Test.
